The Hawthorn line operated via Bridge Road, Richmond. Horse drawn trams were withdrawn in 1916 prior to the introduction of cable trams. In October 1996 the viewing platform was opened. It is situated near Lenister Farm on the Diamond Creek trail. It was a joint project involving Nillumbik Shire Council, Skill Seekers Inc., Department of Natural resources and Environment and Department of Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs. The platform was officially opened by Don Cordell Chairman of Commissioners.
