Catholics from Tawonga attended Mass at Dederang the area being part of the Myrtleford parish. With the coming of the State Electricity Commission and the increase in population Masses were said in various schools, homes and halls between Tawonga and Mt Beauty until the completion of St Joseph's ChurchSt Joseph's Catholic Church, Mt Beauty was consecrated on November 7th 1954. The SEC allocated land to each of the churches for them to provide their own places of worship. It was built by volunteers who donated money and their time to raise funds and build the church.1. The site specific sculpture is located at the entry to the office of Nillumbik Shire Council. It was commissioned in 1994 by the Shire of Diamond Valley for their 20 year celebration. Baines was chosen from a short list of three artists. He is an internationally renowned artist, particularly in the field of gold and silver smithing. 'Transaction' takes on the visual and aesthetic vocabulary of its surroundings. It is a statement of the geometry and idiosyncrasy of its immediate site. The series of arcs are reinterpreted into longitudinal curves in the sculpture. It is a transaction between the place and the anticipated entry to the building. The title also suggests the flow of civil and administrative procedures that take place daily within the Shire's offices. A large cascading form in stainless steel. Multiple rows of concave dishes set on long steel stems, which progressively increase in size as they rise in height. The work plays elaborately with perspective, and its repeated shapes are arranged in a orderly mathematical series. It faces a wheelchair ramp lined with polished steel rails, and is integrated with the architectural features of its forecourt setting, for which it was designed. The piece is sited in a small garden area and can be viewed from within the building's foyer. In bright sunlight, its dish-shapes cast elliptical shadows across walkways and lawns. Stanley Couzens of the Wathourong Community was commissioned by Geelong Wool Combing Ltd to create a painting of the You Yangs and Corio Bay which was then reproduced on a jumper. The jumper itself was designed by Jenifer McMahon using Merino wool from her property McMahon Farm Pty Ltd.Mens knitted jumper depicting an image of the You Yangs and Corio Bay designed by artist Stanley Couzens of the Wathaurong Community. The metal plate machine used plates that contained names, addresses and classifications of each State Electricity Commission of Victoria employee working on the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. The plates were put through the machine onto pay envelopes. USS Missouri (BB-63) is an Iowa-class battleship and was the third ship of the United States Navy to be named after the U.S. state of Missouri. Missouri was the last battleship commissioned by the United States and is best remembered as the site of the surrender of the Empire of Japan, which ended World War II.Missouri received a total of 11 battle stars for service in World War II, Korea, and the Persian Gulf, and was finally decommissioned on 31 March 1992 after serving a total of 17 years of active service, but remained on the Naval Vessel Register until her name was struck in January 1995. This book was originally written for private circulation among the Royal Family. It was written by Lieutenant-General Charles Grey (1804-1870) and was first published in 1867. It was commissioned by Queen Victoria. Grey had been secretary to both Albert and herself. Contents were sourced from letters and memoranda.This book was a significant contemporary record of the royal family. Originally Queen Victoria had attempted to record "an exact account" of hers and Albert's happy marriage but was unable to complete the project on her own. She commissioned Grey to compile it under her supervision, firstly for the royal family and then for public release. It was an outstanding sucess with many editions being necessary.A 469 page book which has green cloth board covers with gilt lettering on the spine and decorative gilt motifs on the front and rear boards. May Coles (1915 - 2007) worked for more than 25 years at the exclusive Georges store in Collins St. May lived nearby the West Preston tram terminus and caught the tram to work. The work was commissioned by May to recall those special years of her work at Georges. Trained as a cartographic draftsman within the mining industry, Margaret Picken is an artist who worked producing property illustrations for real estate agencies in eastern suburbs of Victoria from 1983-2005. Banners were used at schools on sports days to identify the school and/or the team. Bogong is a local town between Mt Beauty and Falls Creek and was established by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria during the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme. The school was opened on 28th Jan. 1941 and closed c1986. The banner probably belonged to the Bogong school and was used for sport carnivals and other events that included mixing with other schools.Wooden pole with yellow/orange satin shield cover on top. The Mt Beauty Fire Brigade commenced under the State Electricity Commission of Victoria in 1948. It was a (Country Fire Authority) C.F.A. Brigade from December 1961 and later an Urban Fire Brigade. The Fire Brigade and its Ladies Auxillary provided many community activities as well as protecting the population.The State Electricity Commission of Victoria established the Mt Beauty Fire Brigade during the construction of the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme.
