The Fashion & Design collection of Kew Historical Society includes examples of textiles dating from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Some of the textiles, were used as items of clothing, others as items of household decoration, or simply as travel souvenirs. These textiles were created both domestically and internationally. Predictably with the growth of an ethnically and culturally more diverse community in Kew after the Second World War, textiles, clothing and objects in the collection inevitably reflected this diversity. The Government first granted land for the building of a Presbyterian Church in Sunbury in Stawell Street and Barkly Street, in 1864 and a smaller building was later erected on the site. In 1904 Rev Goyen pressed for a brick church rep[lace the smaller weather board building and the foundation stone was laid for the new church was laid by Mrs. John Duncan on 17th August 1904 and the new church opened by Lady Clarke on 13th November 1904.The Presbyterian Church was one of the earliest churches to be established in Sunbury along with a school.A non-digital sepia photograph in post card format of the front view of a brick church with a light picket fence across the front.

The people in the horse and cart are driving their vehicle over the original Macedon Road bridge which spans the Jacksons Creek in Sunbury. In the 1970s the road was diverted to take out the downhill bend at the approach to the bridge and a newer bridge was built close to the original one, which now takes pedestrian traffic.The original Macedon Street bridge is one of five heritage bridges in Sunbury. Article in Nunawading Gazette about the first Post Office in Forest Hill. The first postmistress was Catherine Peacock (and storekeeper) who died in the 1930's. Later the P.O. was transferred to the North West corner of Canterbury Road and Springvale Road. The cast iron gates (manufactured in Glasgow) introduced at the North West entrance in 1907. The gates were purchased from ‘Fairlie” corner of Acland and Anderson Streets, South Yarra at the cost of 72 pounds and cost 60 pounds to install. They had originally cost the owners of ‘Fairlie’ 1200 pounds. Lee Heap Furniture Warehouse of Williamstown used the postcards to advertise. The postcards are evidence of the interest the gardens held as a subject for postcard publishers. The text and images provide a snapshot into fashions, social interests and concerns of the time. The professionally produced images provide a pictorial history of Gardens including changing planting styles, various structures and features of the Gardens eg the aviary, cannons, the fountain, the second Curator’s Lodge and gates. The images offer an opportunity to compare garden vistas with the present day. The image in this postcard shows the gates intact and as installed in 1907. The current layout of this area still reflects the change of design, which followed the 1907 removal of the first gardener's residence and the subsequent re-organisation of this quarter of the gardens. This postcard is evidence of the placement of one of the cannons relocated from Fort Gellibrand in 1906. They were removed from the Gardens in the 1960s. These same cannons remain a feature on the Williamstown waterfront in 2013. Black and white image of main entrance gates which are open.
