Photograph of ESCo tram No. 1 entering Pall Mall from the Eaglehawk line, side view probably running into the depot. The tram has been modified with bracing and open saloon seats changed from cross bench to longitudinal and has been painted in SEC 1930s colours with an SEC monogram. Photograph taken by The Courier - photo taken 27/10/1971, published 28/10/1971 of the Removal of tramway overhead wire, Bridge & Main Sts corner. shows an SEC bucket truck with a workman removing the signalling cabling, with a policeman at either end of the truck providing traffic control. Shows the track in the street and the overhead junction. In the background is Gears Chemist, a fruit shop (Fruit Palace), Bank of New South Wales, and a Kodak advertisement on the chemist building. Historically significant for at the time it demonstrated aspects of the evolution of Ballarat Tramways and yields information about the formation of the tramways, the Councils viewpoint and has a strong association with the Mayor of the time.Twenty two page book, produced by photocopying, side stapled and bound with a red plastic binding, titled "Mayor's Special Report Ballarat Tramways", dated 20 September 1971 for presentation to the City of Ballaarat Council Meeting 27 Sept. 1971 and signed by the Mayor, J.A.Chisholm. Note pages 18 and 19 have been reversed. Comprises: Page 1 - map (image 1829i1) - of Ballarat (Ballaarat) showing the horse tram routes in red (appear to have been drawn in with a red pencil). Booklet - S.E.C.V, How to Prepare & Store Frozen Food
The SECV's Home Advisory Service prepared this book to advise customers on the use of home freezers.They also assisted with advice and information on other electrical appliances. The SEC had Showrooms in regional Victoria including one at Mt Beauty where this booklet came from.The S.E.C.V. constructed the Kiewa Hydro Electric Scheme employing many workers. They built the townships of Mt Beauty and Bogong and assisted with the infrastructure required to support the influx of population. In the Mt Beauty shopping centre, one of the shops was the SEC Showroom which sold electrical appliances and gave advice on their use. This book gives advise on the use of freezers.Booklet with 22 pages held together with two staples.
