The mounted photograph is one of a series used for display purposes. The water tower at Sunbury Station was built in 1861 by J. Bett. it is of state significance and is an indicator of the importance of the railway to Sunbury's expansion in the Nineteenth Century. Steam trains needed sufficient steam power to climb the steep gradients over the Great Dividing Range and the water tower at Sunbury was used to replenish the trains' water supply for the remainder of the journey.A black and white photograph of the water tower at Sunbury Railway Station. The base of the tower is a brick construction with an arched doorway and two bricked in arched windows at either side of the doorway and a further two bricked in arched windows on the side. The top was inserted into a glass bottle filled with water which was used to dampen starched clothes and linen before the garments were ironed. The damping bottle was filled with water and used to moisten starched clothes and linen before garments were ironed. The introduction of steam irons into households in the early 1960's resulted in damping bottles becoming superfluous.A glass 'Schweppes' bottle has yellow and black graphics on it. It has been recycled and used as a damping bottle. The metal stopper has been inserted into a cork. There are spray holes on the top of the stopper. This book is hand written in ink a list of occupiers and addresses of properties in Sunbury requiring cleaning of water closets between the years 1895 and 1908. Water closets were used before sewerage was connected to the town.Cloth covered hard cover book with tan colour corners and spine which have small embossed pattern on edges. The Meter book was used by the Shire of Bulla to record by hand writing the consumers name and location of property, the amount of water used, any excess water and all costs relating to the property.Large cloth covered hard cover book with tan corners and spine. Original of this photo comes from the photograph album (B09.0003) of Noelle Kendall ( Vaughan, graduated 1919.) Note by T.H.Kneen 19 November 1991, "Shows potting shed and at left an open fronted store for seedling boxes. The cold frames in the centre were replaced by a glasshouse. The watering can held by the student was standard equipment in the nursery." Later examination by Eric Littlejohn suggests a quite different purpose for open fronted store, he recalls it being used for storage of tobacco leaf. Hand Pump. Reticulated water did not reach Diamond Creek until 1914. This beautiflly restored hand pump raised water from the outside domed well to provide cool clear water for domestic use.The Hand Pump is a well preserved example of equipment used domestically in the Diamond Creek areaHand pump used for pumping water from shallow wells.
