Country Women’s Association history ...The Country Women’s Association of Australia advances the rights and equity of women, families and communities in Australia through advocacy and empowerment, especially for those living in regional, rural and remote Australia. The Country Women’s Association of Victoria was founded in 1928 and the Warrnambool Branch was founded in 1931. The branch has given assistance through the years to the Red Cross, Baby Health Centres, the Warrnambool Hospital, bush fire relief, mental health and aged care and it has regular displays of country arts and crafts. In 1961 the C.W.A. Centre and Rest Rooms were opened in Kepler Street, Warrnambool. In 2016 the group celebrated the 85th anniversary of its founding.This booklet is of interest to researchers and others wanting a brief outline of the history of the Warrnambool Branch of the Country Women’s Association. This is a small booklet of 12 pages. The front cover is white with black printing and it has a yellow back cover. The booklet has black plastic spiral binding. The pages contain printed information, photocopies of newspaper articles, a knitting pattern and other photocopied material. Bendigo has a history of brass bands and Scottish Pipe Bands. There are three girls in the Bendigo Municipal Band for the first time in its history. Many boys in the past are trained up and then they leave Bendigo for employment. Weather board building with a veranda. Two gum trees in front of the shop. A grey horse is harnessed to a dray and there are two men and two women behind it. A pink sticker is stuck on the bottom with - Cnr havilah Rd , Arms St. Long Gully. Now Leadlight Shop - written on it. Written on the back is: Verandah blown off by whirly wind Landed on top of shop roof. Now replaced 1986. This is Vol. 6 of the Moorabbin Mirror produced by CMHS members Fran & Holger Bader , Valma Sharp April 2016 The Moorabbin Mirror reflects the history and heritage of the former City of Moorabbin — derived from Mooroobin, ‘a resting place’ in the Bunurrung spoken language. In 1994, the City of Moorabbin was integrated into the Cities of Bayside, Glen Eira, Kingston and Monash. This issue of the Moorabbin Mirror is dedicated to all the young, and not so young, men and women from the former City of Moorabbin who served ‘King and Country’ during the Great War. Especially those who never came home including a photo of WW1 Mordialloc Memorial and the 2016 Local Commemorative Services. Valma Sharp CMHS President 'officially opened' the new WC and thanked GECC for this amenity. Members and Guests then shared light refreshments before welcoming visitors to the BCM Extra Open Day. Unfortunately Lorna Thatcher was unable to attend due to a sudden illness and Committee and members sent Get Well wishes via Frank. The Diary informs members of the Extra Open Days, upcoming publicity events , Meetings and Community Group visits to BCM, Local interest items include Lees Nursery, Market Gardening Heritage, Westall UFO, Joyce Park Playground Solar System., Moorabbin Ten Pin Bowl and the School Amateur Radio Special Event. The Committee is very grateful for the help provided by David Hardham GEHS to set up our new CMHS website. An informative article re the 2012 GESAC that replaced the 1964 Olympic Pool. Centenary History of the Presbyterian Church in New South Wales This Centenary History, published in 1905 in two volumes, contains a wealth of information on Presbyterianism, Presbyterian churches and Presbyterian people in New South Wales. It is a valuable resource for church, local and family historians - greatly enhanced by full text searching on this CD edition.
