The one pound note was the most prevalent banknote in circulation with the pound series, with the last series of 1953-66 having 1,066 million banknotes printed. The serial number HK 02 suggests it was printed in 1966.this item is an example of pre-decimal currency used in Australia.A green rectangular paper Australian £1 note. On the obverse is the Australian Coat of Arms and a picture of Queen Elizabeth II facing left. On the reverse are Charles Sturt and Hamilton Hume. The signatories are: H. C. Coombs, Governor, Reserve Bank of Australia and Roland Wilson, Secretary to the Treasury. The watermark is Captain Cook in left oval. Behind each signature is ’ONE POUND’. Set of six documents associated with a Wattle Park band recital by the AIF Legion of Anzacs band on Sunday 17 October 1943 in support of the 4th Liberty Loan. .1 - printed poster advertising the afternoon and travel by tram from Princes Bridge. .2 - duplicated notice from the Assistant Manager to Depots dated 13/10/1943 about the bus to be used to transport band members from Elizabeth St to Wattle Park - Central Bus Depot - notes the bus had been specially prepared for the event. .3 - typed notice from the District Traffic Superintendent to Hawthorn and Camberwell depots about special trams for the event and arrangements for conductors. Signed by J. M. Harry rubber stamp. .4 - hand written in blue indelible pencil on ruled paper, the table for the special cars for the event. .5 - hand written notes on heavy card of timing and loading on trams at Glenferrie Road. Signed R. Whitelaw. .6 - ditto for loading ex Wattle Park loop - signed by A? No Manufacture detail, though has a bar code on the bottom left hand corner of the rear cover. Cover is a reproduction from a painted art piece. It was also reported re the Institutions decision to pay Christmas pay on the basis of Married pensioners, £3-7-6, Married non-pensioners £4-7-6 per week and single men £2-2-6 per week. The child allowance has been discontinued. Looking south along Maria Street (Main Road) from intersection with Bridge Street, Eltham, c.1906. Burgoyn'e Post Office on left. The footpath was about 2 feet above the road level. Horse and cart near the entrance to John Street. Webster's house was on the the northeast corner of Pitt and Maria (Main Road) and the verandah was over the footpath. Watson's Hotel on southeast corner, Fountain Hotel on southwest corner and Morrison's house on the northwest corner.
