Booklet - Mining the Collection: Discover Albury's Hidden Treasures, Damian Kelly et al, May 2011
Mining the Collection was an Arts NSW funded project in which nine community members and four artists were invited to discover and select works from Albury City's seven cultural collections. The collections were Indigenous Collection, Textile Collection, Social History Objects Collection, Social History Collection (paper based), Photography Collection, Works on paper Collection (Drysdale, drawings) and the Painting Collection. The community members selected individual pieces for the artists to respond to in their chosen medium. All four artists – Arthur Wicks, Ponch Hawkes, Treahna Hamm and Frank Burgers – have a connection with the region and a national profile. The artists' responses to the individual works chosen for them and the range of works selected became an exhibition that introduced visitors to the collection and to the contemporary artworks it inspired. This is a publication to accompany that exhibition.non-fictionMining the Collection was an Arts NSW funded project in which nine community members and four artists were invited to discover and select works from Albury City's seven cultural collections. Book, Thomas Drenen, Golden Rutherglen: Mining Activities of the Past, c 1935-1945
Information from donor: "The orange booklet was printed mid-to-late 1930’s or early 40’s by my father Curtis Drenen, and written by my grandfather Thomas Drenen. The original publication would have been handset by Thomas’s employees as he had a keen interest in the mines financially. This booklet has been set and cast in hot metal on a linotype machine my father purchased after taking over the Rutherglen “Sun” and passing of Thomas in July 1932. This booklet was one of half a dozen I put together when I found some flat sheets of 8 page sections stored away in a cupboard. I folded, collated the sections, stapled and trimmed these Sheets during my time at the “Sun” from 1951 to1969. Where the rest are I have no idea. I wrote the final paragraph on Page 44 from a copy provided be my mother." Thomas Drenen was Proprietor and Editor of The Rutherglen "Sun," from 1886 to 1932. The articles in the book were first published in 1904.Small book of 44 pages, stapled, with cover of orange heavy paper. On cover: "Robert Drenen, 11 Hinchley St., Wangaratta" At bottom of last page, the last line "In suspending work the mine was not dismantled, except taking the ropes" is followed by handwritten lines: "down. However no further was done with the mine and the plant and machinery was later sold to Mr S.P. Gollings and eventually dismantled. THE END."drenen family, gold mining -

Painting, Claim of the Waterloo Mining Co, 1909
The painting is thought to be a copy of a similar earlier work. An Australian flag flying on a flagpole is an interesting addition. The puddlers depicted in this painting were the Kneeshaw Brothers. This item is part of the Federation University Art Collection. The Art Collection features over 2000 works and was listed as a 'Ballarat Treasure' in 2007.Framed watercolour of the Waterloo Mine, Ballarat. This site is now known as Lydiard Street South, and the church on the hill is the former Wesleyan Church. After the church was abandoned it was purchased by the Ballarat School of Mines and used as a Museum for many decades. Today the Federation University Hairdressing school uses the building for their classes. art, artwork, waterloo mine, ballarat, mining, wesley church, lydiard street, kneeshaw, kneeshaw brothers, lydiard street south, ballarat school of mines -

Booklet, Leigh River Tunnel Gold Mining Co. Syndicate Books
Richard Squire was a student at the School of Mines Ballarat In 1905 Richard Squire was manager of the West Berry Consols at Allendale, and developed an improved system of mine ventilation, which was supported in "The Age." He was successful in combating and remedying the gas and ventilation troubles of the Deep Mines of Creswick and Allendale Districts after all had failed. MINE MANAGERS’ ASSOCIATION. Ballarat Branch. ... Mr R. B. Squire, manager of the West Berry Consols, at Allendale, submitted a paper detailing what he had done tor the betterment of ventilation in the alluvial mines of Smeaton and Mary borough districts- Members gave Mr Squire every credit for the results that he claimed to have effected; the adoption of his ideas had testified to their value to mine-owners. It was painted out, however, that for want of a thorough debate of the subject with experienced men the author had unwittingly included some general statements that required modifying in some points and extending in others, in justice to other workers among the earlier and the present day managers of mines. It was decided to invite the author to meet a sub-committee on this subject!Oblong booklets with green covers of syndicate share certificates .1 Dark Green cover 1923 all used .2 Light Green cover 1924 four pages used .3 Light Green cover 1924 all used .4 Light Green Cover 1924 all used .5 light Green Cover 1918 - 1919 four pages used .1 Front cover torn but has notes written on it. .2 Leigh River Tunnel G 21st Call written on front .3 Leigh River Tunnel G 22nd Call written on front .4 Leigh River Tunnel G 23rd Call and figures written on front .5 3 shares isued out of this book, Leigh River Share Book No. 16 A 30 written on front richard squire, leigh river tunnel gold mining co., syndicate book, hy peacock -

Ringwood and District Historical Society
Booklet - Mines Department, Victoria, Antimony Mining At Ringwood by H.E. Wilkinson, 1971
Between 1869 and 1892, the Ringwood antimony mines produced more than 3,500 tons of antimony ore, which represented bout 15 per cent of Victoria's antimony production for that period. Much greater amounts were later taken from the mines at Costerfield and the Ringwood mines lapsed into obscurity. Most of the information in this booklet has been obtained from published and unpublished Geological Survey and Mines Department reports and Lease Records. (See full list of references included).
