Photograph - gelatin silver photograph, Visit of His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales to Brighton, 1920
In 1920 the Prince of Wales embarked on a journey to Australia on behalf of his father, King George V. While the visit was intended to strengthen the relationship between Australia and the Empire, the main objective was to offer thanks to the Australian men and women for the sacrifices and contributions that they had made during World War I. The Royal Tour began in April 1920 and covered 110 cities and towns across the country. The Prince spent eleven days in New South Wales, nine days in Victoria, four days in Tasmania, eleven days in Western Australia, six days in South Australia and eight days in Queensland. On Saturday 5 June 1920, following a morning at the races in Flemington, the Prince spent the afternoon at ANZAC Hostel in Brighton, where he chatted to wounded soldiers and, according to the newspaper reports at the time, "won the hearts of all present."prince of wales, his royal highness, hrh, royal tour, anzac hostel, brighton, mayor, cr. thomas wilson, j.h. taylor, town clerk, soldiers, diggers, crowd, north road, kamesborough, bayside -

Book, Breeding & management of live stock, 1943
This book has the stamp of ‘Ecker’s Hotel’. This hotel was on the east side of Liebig Street between Lava and Koroit Streets and was opened in 1875 by James Dooley. It was take over in 1885 by James Taylor and then by Joe Ecker in 1910. When Joe Ecker left the hotel in 1923 the licensees following retained the name ‘Ecker’s’. The hotel closed in 1962. It is the only hotel in Warrnambool to have had no other name except that of three of its owners. This book is only of interest because of its connection with Ecker’s Hotel, well-known in Warrnambool for 90 years as a comfortable, well-managed place to stay or visit. No doubt many of the clientele were farmers and this would explain the reason for the book being retained at the hotel. This is a hard cover book of 408 pages. It has a green cover with black lettering on the front cover and on the spine. It has a Preface, a Contents page, 25 chapters of Text, a Gestation Table and an Index. There are many black and white photographs and illustrations scattered throughout the text. The back page is torn and the cover is scuffed and the book is a little warped out of shape. There is some pencil scribble on the first page and a black-coloured stamp. ‘Ecker’s Hotel’ ecker’s hotel, warrnambool, joe ecker, warrnambool history -

Tablecloth - Bogong Hotel - Dorothy Anderson Collection, c1950's
The Bogong Hotel, Tawonga, was 125 years old when it was destroyed by fire early December, 2011. Mr & Mrs Crotty started the hotel, then one of their daughters who married a Higginson continued running it for a number of years. The Hore family then took over - Dick and Essie, followed by Norman and Vera, then the other Hore brothers. The Bogong Hotel commenced in 1886 and was the meeting place for people living in the Upper Kiewa Valley until it was burnt down in December 2011. Its publicans included members from local families - the Crotty's, Higginson's and Hore's including Vera Hore who was born in 1909 and died in 2000. These items were the property of Tawonga citizen Mrs Dorothy Anderson, who passed away in 2014, aged 90 years.White sheet style monogrammed cotton table cloth"Bogong Hotel" embroidered in red on one corner.bogong, hotel, kiewa valley, linen -

Photograph - Image, Opening of extensions to the Royal Blind Society, 1976
A brown plastic laminate inscribed in white writing. On the reverse of the laminate is the previous attempt by the manufacturer, with the words 'June 1976 by the President of the Royal Blind Society of New South Wales, Sir Alexis Al' with an extra line next to the A. It has been taped over but is clearly visible through the masking tape, however this plate would have been attached to the wall, and the mistake not able to be seen by the public. Manufacturers have made spelling errors or had wood or marble crack as commemoration plates were created, but it is interesting to note that with the change in medium (a plastic), there was the opportunity to re-do the job using the same materialsDigital image of laminate board with white letteringThis plaque was erected to commemorate the opening of extensions to these Royal Blind Society premises on 26th June 1976 by the President of the Royal Blind Society of New South Wales, Sir Alexis Albert, C.M.G., V.R.D., B.Ec.
