Does not give bus route numbers. Used up to the renumbering of Oct. 1970. For the route listing that replaced this list see Record Number 360. The bell from the final tram, Tram No. 34, to run on Lydiard Street North in 1971. Demonstrates a conductors communication or signal bell made for use on tramcars. A reminder of the network of trams that existed in Ballarat. Brass Conductor Communication Bell consisting of cast frame, bell pull part, one nut to secure the bell to the frame and two rivets securing for the bell pull part. Displayed in wooden frame with brass plaque. Stamped at one end with "48" "1". Woodward's (notes as former councillor) letter of 31/1/1996 (item 1468), commenting that the study should be done before knocking the project. Produced by the North Sydney Boys High School Railway club, prior to the closure of the Ballarat system - little else written and published at the time about the history and details of the system. A very good booklet for the time - produced entirely by the wax cut stencil process. Has a strong association with the people who prepared the document.Twenty page booklet on the history, operation and tramcars of Ballarat, produced by the Nth Sydney Boys High School Railway Club in July 1971. Printed on a wax cut stencil process, with green covers, drawings, maps, track layout, fleet list, gives tentative closure dates, route descriptions, sketches, stapled on edge. Title "The Ballarat Tram". Stapled on the left hand side. Clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, 24/8/1971, about the first stage of Ballarat's changeover from trams to buses passes uneventfully yesterday with only minor difficulties being reported. Quotes Transport Regulation Boards Regional Office, Mr. A. Stott, a few parking problems with cars in bus bays, demand for timetables. Also has a quote from the director of Davis Bus Lines, about minor problems - passengers asking questions. Has a photograph of the SEC linesman dismantling overhead in Victoria St., as a trail. A gang from Melbourne will come to Ballarat early in September to pull down all the lines. Points of interest in the photograph are the lack of white lines along the tracks, safety zone equipment behind the tram, the "Hail Cars Here" tram stop sign on a steel pole by a traffic light and the style of traffic light. Two advertising panels on the front of the tram advertise "Jex Soap Pads" and the musical "Hair" at the Metro Theatre Bourke St. Two Fords are alongside the tramcar.
