This file contains one item about the Caulfield RSL’s newsletter: 1/Five issues (nos. 26, 33, 35, 42, and 44) of Furfs, the official newsletter of the Caulfield RSL, dated 12/2000, 05/2004, 10/2005, 12/2007, and 11/2009 respectively. The issues vary in size (numbering 12, 6, 1, 8, and 8 pages, respectively) and consequently, in terms of breadth of content. Most, however, report on the Club’s recent activities, list the current administrative staff, eulogise recently deceased members, and contain advertisements for goods and services of interest to members. All except the shortest also contain numerous black-and-white photographs of members participating in various events. Some printed copies of photos (unnamed persons); 2 badges (1 Wallaby Airline 35 Townsville & 1 MIA SVN 3/11/1970 for M. Herbert & R. Carver). Also a 1970 Memorabilia record of Red alerts for incoming rocket or mortar fire etc. There is also 3 business cards for: Kevin Carter, Tom & Lee Grieves & Rod & Gwenda Pearce. NOTE: on 5/11/20 the badge/coaster for M. Herbert & R. Newspaper clippings titled: “Tram crashes rise on crowded roads” Newspaper clipping from the Age 3/7/2019 by Timna Jacks & Rachael Eddie Trams crashing into pedestrians at highest rate for 5 years, up from 35 in 2014 to 51 in 2018 according to Transport Safety Victoria annual safety report. Mobile phones and headphones considered to be major distraction for pedestrians. More than 70% of crashes caused by cars turning or merging onto tram tracks. 15% increase in number of times trams crashed into cars or trucks with 1122 incidents reported.
