The MMTB Timetable details the trips from Elsternwick or Point Ormond for each day of the week. The sheet records the time of the last tram, 1036pm, driver G Loft No. 2480, and the tram as X2 677 on 22-10-1960. The donor advised that the MMTB following the practice adopted for the Bourke St changeover in 1940, the MMTB chose to pull the tram service before the last advertised trip for the day. Those present to ride the last started early and rode up and down for quite a few runs, then, on one arrival at Elsternwick Station, the Inspector (known as grasshoppers or Braids) on board instructed the driver to keep going and we rode through to GH Depot without paying another fare. They noted a half-cab bus, destination 'Clifton Hill', lurking ready to take up the running. The donor reported (and as you will see from the endorsements on the timetable) “I circled the time of the last run and got the signature and badge number of the driver. At the time this caused great concern amongst tramway museums. The problem was later resolved by the Bendigo Trust rebuilding a former scrapped Bendigo Birney tramcar No. 27, partly paid for by the Government for the Adelaide Museum. This tram, Adelaide MTT 1924 G-Type No. 303 is operational at the St Kilda Tramway Museum, Adelaide. Other museums did not receive their promised tramcars. Document produced by the Transit Research Corporation of New York, details the specifications for the Presidents Conference Committee (PCC) for a streetcar or tram for American cities. The MMTB researched this type of tramcar for use in Melbourne, taking out a licence for their production. This document dated 1/4/1947 with revision to 1/6/1950 would have been part of the licence agreement. Unfortunately, there were insufficient funds to build this type of tramcar. Only tram 980 which was based on a modified W6 class body was fitted with PCC equipment, later transferred to prototype PCC tram 101. Sign - galvanised steel sheet with a baked white enamel paint finish and overlaid with a reflective white and red "Stop" and two walking legs to warn motorists that a pedestrian or passenger was about to leave or board a tramcar. Fitted to the folding doors of Z, A and B class tramcars mid to late 2000's?. It replaced a larger green fold out sign with an image of pedestrians and the word "stop" on it. Sign has not been used. Poster advertising "Music for the People" Sunday, March 5 (1953?) featuring images of Margaret Nisbett, Soprano, Hector Crawford Conductor of the Australian Symphony Orchestra and Gordon Boyd Baritone. Part of the Music for the People event during the Begonia Festival. Would have been displayed in an internal tramcar advert rack. Has been recycled by the SEC Ballarat depot to display a dyeline print of a1969 tram fare schedule glued to the rear with possibly another earlier version underneath.
