Bible belonging to David Kinnane, Yarrowee Lodge, Number 10. The Yarrowee Masonic Lodge met for the first time on 3 February 1857 in Ballarat. Richard Ocock was elected Worshipful Master; Bernard Smith the Senior Warden and Thomas Cope the Junior Warden. Meetings were held at the George Hotel, Lydiard Street, Ballarat, on the Wednesday nearest the full moon in each month. Thomas Stoddart was a miner turned local stockbroker. He bought 12 statues made of Carrara marble during a visit to Italy in 1882, and gifted them to the Ballarat Botanical Gardens. The sculptures were placed on pedestals of Sicilian marble and on bases of Victorian granite. Lanercost Priory was founded around 1169 by Robert de Vaux, and was home to an order of Augustinian canons until 1538 when is was dissolved by Henry VIII. In 1542 the priory and lands were granted to Thomas Dacre, an illegitimate son of Thomas, Lord Dacre. Mason's marks can be found throughout the undercroft. Sweenies Creek Pottery was located at 1507 Strathfieldsaye Rd, Axe Creek. Owned and run by Graham Masters, he specialises in a patented technique of low relief stoneware depicting Australian animals and landscapes. Graham Masters graduated from Bendigo Institute of Technology in 197 with a Diploma of Art and Design in Ceramics. He operated a pottery for a year in Bendigo, before working at Maldon Pottery, Maldon, Victoria, with Neville Wilson and Thomas Metcalf.
