Photos taken at the 13th Annual Widows' Art and Craft Exhibition held at Legacy House in 1994. The note with the photos says: "The quality and ingenuity of the arts and crafts entered were outstanding and quite a daunting task for the judge, Mrs Janice Bridges". This document discusses the many options available to Melbourne Legacy in matters such as:- A) Disposal of Legacy House (293 Swanston St, Melbourne), redeveloping the existing site, selling the building and remain as a tenant or moving to another location. Many variations of these options are discussed. B) Whether Legacy luncheons would or should continue, would any of the above options reduce widow visits to Legacy House. C) Matters that would influence the sale price and/or costs of alterations. D) Reasons for/against various options E) Recommendations. There are 5 recommendations in total. Two photos of widows with a handcrafts stall at Flinders Street Station in 1990. Widows met regularly at Legacy House for craft gatherings lessons. Some of the items the Widows produced were entered into an annual craft contest and exhibition. Many items were also donated to the annual Badge Week stall that widows organised. The stall was often outside Legacy House but in these photos from 1990 the stall was set up at Flinders Street Station. This book is a record, made in honour of deceased Legatees, who have given service to the cause of Legacy. This is labeled Book 3. There are two similar books on display at Legacy House Melbourne.This is a record of Legatees who have given up their spare time to assist the families of deceased service personnel.Black hardcover book, white pages with floral border. Photos of two tanks driving along Swanston Street taken from the windows of Legacy House. The occasion is not known. The tanks appear to be Leopard 1. One has elaborate equipment on the front. The date is approximately the late 1990s as the Queen Victoria Hospital has been demolished and the QV building has not been started. On the site opposite Legacy House is an open air market called The Sailyards, and what appears to be an ice rink or mini golf, called The Icehouse. Photos from a 10th anniversary of the Home and Hospital Visiting Group of the Melbourne Legacy widows' club at Legacy House in 1991. One photo shows Kath Mitchell, Vera Paydon and Valerie Parr (left to right) cutting the anniversary cake. The visiting group was formed to visit women in hospital or their homes or nursing homes. They met every third Wednesday at Legacy House. The photo was featured in the November 1991 issue of The Answer. In the 1990s Legacy was supported by generous donations from Fergusson Plarre Bakehouse with cakes often donated for the annual fete. This cake could have been donated. A cake decorated to look like the Shrine of Remembrance. The event is the annual Fete in 1993. The cake was entered into the Melbourne Show and shows a lot of skill. It was used as a raffle prize at the 1993 fete held at Legacy House (see the article from The Answer). The article says: The 31st annual Club Fete was held at Legacy House and a highlight of the event was a raffle to win a spectacular cake depicting the Shrine of Remembrance. The cake, made by Mrs Audrey McMaster (friend of a former Junior Legatee) was a 1993 prize-winning cake at the Royal Melbourne Show. From an article in The Answer newsletter December 1996 these veteran cyclists were part of Veterans' Health week which is an awareness campaign from the Department of Veterans' Affairs. The cyclists were Jack Griffin (72) and Eric Doherty (76), who had recently completed their round Australia cycling expedition. The article says: "Reception at Legacy House for Veteran Cyclists There was a big media roll up at Legacy House Melbourne recently to cover the finish of a marathon bike ride around Australia by two very fit veterans. Three Legacy widows from Hampton area, their names are unknown. They were photographed when they visited Legacy House and appeared in the July 1992 Widows' Newsletter. Keesing Photographers took a series of photos on the same day of various ladies and some were committee members at different clubs. Presumably there had a been a meeting at Legacy House of members from the many clubs (including Hampton, Highett, Caufield). Pg 3 means the photo was used in an issue of The Answer. It is assumed that the date was 1991 due to the reference number from the photographic studio 911030B-21 could mean 30 October 1991, along with 00645, 00647, 00648, 00649, 00650, 00651 and 000661 - 00666.
