The tickets, known as "flimsies", have a value of 1, 1 1/2, 2 and 3 pence. The tickets are, with the exception of one, full length and have not been ripped from the stub. Some have an Alphabet identification followed by a date stamp. Others have either a 1 or 2 digit number. The ticket value is of a size that covers most of the destination section of the ticket, with the information being printed in black on a variety of different colored papers. The full length, un-nipped tickets with Row 1, ticket 3 "Secns re blank spaces" written in pencil on front of ticket. This book gives information on 1,100 War Memorials in Victoria. It was compiled by Bradley, Christey et al and produced for the Returned and Services League of Victoria. War Memorials were established in most settlements in Australia after World War One and added to after World War Two and succeeding conflicts. The number of War Memorials reflect the historical importance of Australia’s involvement in world wars and because of our distance from the battlefields they have become sacred places in Australia – de facto war cemeteries. The book includes information on the Warrnambool War Memorial and those in our area. This book is of interest as it gives details on War Memorials and includes all those in the Western District of Victoria. It will be useful to researchers of social and military history. This is a hard cover book with a blue cover and gold printing on the spine. The dust cover is dark blue with a colour sketch of the Portland War Memorial and white printing on the front cover and an outline of the map of Australia on the back cover. The book has 240 pages, black and white and colour illustrations, a Foreword, Dedication, Acknowledgements, Introduction, Contents, Bibliography and Index and information in alphabetical order of the War Memorials in Victoria. The Free Kindergarten Union of Victoria commenced teacher training in 1909. A two year course was run in cooperation with the Education Department in 1910-14, but from 1917 the Union trained its students independently. In 1922 the Kindergarten Training College was established in Mooroolbeek, Kew. In 1965, the institution, as the Melbourne Kindergarten Teachers' College, became an entity separate from the Union, and in 1973 joined the State College of Victoria as the Institute of Early Childhood Development.
