The Collingwood Campus library of NMIT was redeveloped in 2007 and renamed the Bill Freeman Library and Student Centre. The new centre was designed to meet changes in thelibrary to a more student-focused service. It provides spaces for a variety of learning needs and styles. The library was named after Bill Freeman, a long-standing institute council member of Collingwood College of TAFE and later NMIT, serving as NMIT Council President 2002-2006. Max Fletcher became Galen Catholic College's 1st lay principal in 1987, taking over from Sister Anne Boyd. Mr. Fletcher served as the school principal until the end of 2001. During his time as our principal, many building projects were undertaken and the number of students at Galen Catholic College continued to rise. The most significant development during Mr. Fletcher's tenure was Galen College becoming a one campus school in 1990. Mr Neal is the longest serving principal that Galen Catholic College has had. The Wesleyan Methodist Church at Clunes is a distinctive bluestone building in the Gothic style and was designed by the Ballarat architect J.A. Doane. Construction began in 1864 and the church was further extended in 1871. The building consists of a broad nave and transepts with galleries, these having cast iron balustrades. The facade incorporates a slate-roofed octagonal turret and spire and a four-light perpendicular Gothic window. The interior includes windows with quarry glass panes and coloured borders; those on either side of the organ incorporate scrolled texts and may be by the Melbourne makers Ferguson & Urie. With declining congregations, the property was purchased by Wesley College in 1999 and now forms part of its Clunes campus. The church building has received a very extensive restoration, including structural strengthening, the opening out of the interior to its original dimensions and the installation of a new floor.
