This badge was given to William Clarence Busse when he became a lifetime member of the Chiltern Football Club. Football became popualr in Chiltern during the 1860s, with the local team becoming a key part of the creation of a formal competition for the Ovens and Murray region, which came about in 1893. The Chiltern team also participated in the founding of the Chiltern and District Football Association in 1912, where they won their first premiership in 1914. In 1954, the team played in a Grand Final against Greta that had a 43 minute long final quarter. Chiltern was ahead when the fourth quarter should have ended, but the timer did not go off and the game went into overtime, allowing Greta to snatch the win and set in place a decades-long rivalry. Today, the team continues to compete under the nickname the 'Swans' in the Tallangatta and District Football League. Wilfred Clarence Busse was born in Chiltern in 1898. This certificate, drawn in a very elegant hand, contains the biographical information of Wilfred Busse. It is assumed to be a funeral or memorial card. Born in Chiltern in 1898, Wilfred Clarence Busse was educted at Wesley College and then the University of Melbourne. He became a barrister and through his time at the University of Melbourne studied with future Chief Justice and Governor of Victoria Sir Henry Arthur Winneke (1908–1985), as well as spending time in the chanbers of Sir Leo Finn Bernard Cussen (1859-1933), who was a judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria. Two page Summary of talk by Dr Charles Fahey at May meeting of the BHS, titled The Diary of Isaac Edward Dyason. Printed on white paper. An extra copy of page 1 printed on green paper. Dyason kept diaries from New Years Day 1858 until his death in 1915. Most survived with the exception of the years 1873-4 . In Lansell's absence he took over his business affairs and moved into Fortuna. He married and had four children, Emily, Amy, Clarence and Cecil. His youngest child didn't survive. The donor's father (William Clarence Christopher) was born in 1906 in Williamson Street, Bendigo and was schooled at the Bendigo School of Mines. The notebook on theoretical Carpentry must date from around 1920 when he was an apprentice. His brother James Charles Christopher was a teacher, the Solid Geometry drawings date from 1925-1932 and were submitted by students at Ballarat Junior Technical school. The book od building regulations was used by William Clarence in the 1940's and 50's while employed as a building foreman at Braybrook by Industrial Engineering Ltd.The manuals are covered with brown paper and the title in red or black texter on the front. The theory Carpentry is handwritten, the three Solid Geometry are made up of individual drawings and the Uniform Building Regulations is printed.technical books, school of mines

William Henry Gray was killed when a large slab of rock fell on his head at the Clarence Mine, Eaglehawk in April 1902. He was only aged 32 and left a widow and five children. The family lived at Bracewell Street, Eaglehawk.Brown poster advertising a concert at the Eaglehawk Town Hall. Wednesday, June 4th.
