Document by the SECV Ballarat Work's Superintendent looks at the activities and issues of tramways and workshops. Includes notes on the operation and personnel of the depot - reduction in staff, maintenance, accidents, permanent way or track maintenance, including replacement of rail at the Sebastopol terminus using lighter rail ex Geelong. Has an extensive report on tramcar maintenance. The report on the Workshops includes a listing of staff, power station work, labour issues, vehicles, fire control and safety. Report on the closure of the Geelong Tramway System in March 1956, including the presentation of conductor's bells from tram 23 to Cr Camereon and the Mayor of Geelong Cr Fidge. Gives notes on the replacement bus services, events of the last trams and those involved on the day such as Driver Stanley Parker and Conductor Eric Sweetten. Functional object - Conductor Bell Geelong - Presentation engraved, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), 1956
Presentation to D J Irwin, the Depot Foreman at Geelong following the operation of the last tram No. 4 on 24 March 1956. Mr Irwin subsequently became the Depot Foreman in Ballarat. Would appear that the threaded knob is not part of the original conductor's bell as it does not fully screw into the bell housing. Digital image or copy of the SEC "Official Timetable Geelong No. 45", 16 image files - 32 pages, giving details of the fares, transfers, luggage or parcels, lost property, times of each tram on the Belmont (1), Chilwell (2), East Geelong (3), Eastern Park (4), Newtown (5), North (6), West Geelong (7). Gives details of railway station trams, transfer ticket arrangements, depot workings and the night signs carried out each tram. Based on the 4d max fare, it is a circa 1949 timetable - see reference. It has a label on the top left-hand corner - dated 29/9/1947, in a memo from the Manager, Geelong branch. Tram 30 was built in 1925 by J.G. Brill & Co. in Philadelphia and flat packed to Australia. It was assembled in Adelaide, operated in Geelong before coming to Bendigo in 1947.No.30 tram (Birney) leaving depot displaying destination as Quarry Hill, C 1964.
