The memorial grave was dedicated on 16 April, 1899. Following the 150th anniversary of the arrival of the barque, descendants of John Craig and other "Glen Huntly" passengers restored the memorial. Inscription on memorial: On December 13th 1839, the emigrant ship "Glen Huntly" left Greenock, Scotland and arrived in Hobson`s Bay on 17th April 1840. Many of the passengers suffering from fever were landed at the Red Bluff St Kilda on 24th April 1849. That being the first quarantine station in Victoria. A few days later John Craig James Mathers George Armstrong succumbed to the disease and were interred at The Bluff. Owing to the encroachment of the sea their remains were exhumed and removed to the St Kilda Cemetery on 27th August 1898 by the Board of Public Health.This memorial was erected by public subscription, to mark a notable event in the early history of the colony. Kerr Johnston, a Church of England clergyman, and operated from a hulk moored in Hobson’s Bay; later the Mission occupied buildings in Williamstown and Port Melbourne. Baptismal font: four-legged, varnished oak wood pedestal supporting a wooden box with a copper basin insert. The box has a removable cover that has a round wooden knob. The sides of the box section have a decorative diamond-shaped motif. The box and lid are octagonal, with four short sides and four long sides. The tops of the legs have a decorative design. This book, The Australian Psalter, was part of the furniture and furnishings from the St Nicholas Church, Williamstown. It was used in the worship service there until the church closed. The base has a detachable vertical panel with the decoration of a sword and two anchors, the reredos has a cross on a panel. It was made by Hadwen and Houghton, Malvern, Victoria. A plaque at the bottom right edge is marked with the maker's name. This cross or crucifix is part of the original furnishings of St Nicholas Church, Williamstown, Victoria. The church was operated by the Missions to Seamen organisation. the cross was presented to the church in 1942 by Mrs R J Ewart, M.N., to commemorate the lives of those lost at sea. An inscription is engraved in script on the base. Mrs R.J. Ewart presented the cross to the church in 1942 to commemorate those lost at sea.
