Physical description

The brown leather-covered bound book has an embossed inscription on the spine and an impressed cross symbol on the front cover. It has red leaf pages (681 pages). The music and words were compiled and arranged by editor William Henry Monk, and published in London. This Revised and Enlarged edition was printed in London by William Clowes & Sons Ltd.
The book's title is "Hymns Ancient and Modern". The inscription shows it was given as a gift in 1884. It has since been added to our St Nicholas Seamen's Church Collection.
