Textile - Bicentennial tapestry, 8. Kew. City of Parks and Gardens, 1988
This is one of eight embroidered panels, completed during the 1988 Australian Bi-Centennial, and carried out under the auspices of City of Kew Council and the Kew Historical Society. Nearly 600 residents, including many children, participated in their production by adding a few or more stitches. A book records their names and the panels upon which they worked. The embroidered initials may be those of Caterina Lamaro or Caterina Lopez, who married Favaloro brothers.An ivory coloured large linen bedspread with a border finished at 12cm with .4cm drawn threadwork. There is embroidery in a floral pattern to a depth of 62cm in the corners and Initials in the centre, CL?. Two pillow shams 100x79cm with matching embroidery in cream thread and a border finished at 5cm with drawn threadwork accompany the bedspread. Textiles. A war time souvenir from Palestine. Pale gold silk, embroidered with a depiction of the''Mosque of Aman (?) Souvenir of Palestine, 1942, floral emblems and a bow. Textile - RAYON AND COTTON CUSHION-PALESTINE/AUSTRALIAN COMMONWEALTH MILITARY FORCES, A WARTIME SOUVENIR FROM PALESTINE, 1941
Textiles. A wartime souvenir from Palestine. Peach coloured rayon (?) fabric, with a cream coloured calico back. Embroidered in silk and cotton thread in chain stitch. A palm tree on either side of the front frames a semi-circular shape with the Australian and British flags at the top on either side of the semi-circle. A crown is embroidered at the top in the open section of the circle. Australian Commonwealth Military Forces is embroidered around the semi-circle. Textile - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: SILK EMBROIDERY ON SILK, Mid 1800's
Artwork. A square of silk fabric, finished on the four sides with a .8 cm fringe of the fabric. A border of blue stitchery 2 cm from inside the fringe surrounds a floral design of three variegated pink flowers, one variegated blue flower, and soft green leaves. In one corner is a butterfly with soft pink wings, dark body, and long antennae. Burgandy satin stitch buds, and centres in two of the flowers add depth.artwork, doyley -

Textile - FAVALORO COLLECTION: DOUBLE DAMASK TABLE RUNNER/COVER WILL PULLED THREAD EMBROIDERY, Early - mid 1900's
Textiles. Damask weave fabric, with a design of a rose, with buds, and two stems of leaves, and a lovely soft sheen. Two bands of six zig zag peaks, are made by using pulled thread embroidery, and form a border either side of a row of pulled threadwork diamond shapes, 7 cms x 7 cms. This decorative border is at each end of the runner, which also is completed with a 12 cm deep fringe. A geometric patterned weave forms the background to the pulled thread embroidery, while a single rose and bud weave is tucked into each zig zag, and a scroll design features at each fringed end.textiles, domestic, double damask table runner -

Textile - FAVALORO COLLECTION: EMBROIDERED AND LACE TRIMMED PILLOW CASES, Late 1800-1900's
Textiles. Large pieces of linen, 119 cm x 96 cm edged with a border, 8.5 cm deep of cotton lace, matching rthe lace of the bed-spread. This lace has a corded effect, outlining 'finger shapes' of floral pattern, alternating with an open chain stitch, looped effect. Like the bed-spread, the pillow case is embroidered with the initials in satin stitch and some cut work embroidery. A smaller rectangle of linen fabric is stitched to the back of the fabric, to hold a pillow in place,. Measuring 81 cms x 48 cms. This envelope is tied with three ties of cotton tape. It could be presumed that these pillow slips would be a decorative feature of the bed linen. As on the bed-spread, lavishly embroidered initials may be the initials of Caterina (Ina) Lamaro, who married Giovanni (Jack) Favaloro, or Caterina (Kitty) Lopes, who married Salvatore (Salve) Favaloro.textiles, domestic, two embroidered and lace pillow cases -

Textile - FAVALORO COLLECTION: BED-SPREAD PART OF MATCHING SET WITH PILLOW CASES, Late 1800-1900's
Textiles. Finely woven linen bed spread, white in colour, and with a ''turn-back'' top to come over or under the pillows. A 10.5 cm deep band of cotton lace trims the edge of this turn-back, and is gathered around the two lower corners, and extends 74 cms along the side edges of the turn-back. An insert of lace, 2.5 cm wide, also outlines the turn-back, 8 cm from the edge of the linen. The lace trim has a scalloped edge, and a corded effect. Above the narrow band of lace , are beautifully embroidered initials CF. Some small red cotton embroidery on top hem-left hand corner. Embroidered in white cotton satin stitch, the initials are embellished with floral motifs and leaves, and some embroidered eyelets May be the initials of Caterina (Ina) Lamaro who married Giovanni "Jack" Favaloro, or Caterina "Kitty" Lopes who married Salvatoro "Salve" Favaloro.textiles, domestic, woven linen bed spread -

Textile - FAVALORO COLLECTION: VERY LARGE LINEN PILLOW COVER-LACE TRIMMED, Late 1800-1950's
... , showing the embroidery fabric to advantage. Textile FAVALORO ...Textiles. Very large cover, with an envelope to enclose the pillow, stitched on the underside, with cotton tape ties to enclose the pillow. Beautiful fine cotton broderie fabric (possibly Swiss cotton broderie anglaise) edges the pillow. Corners of the embroidered cotton have been mitred in an unusual way, with the excess fabric still evident, in a 'kite-shaped' manner, in each corner. The embroidered cotton edging features a scalloped edge, with circular, and floral design. Textile - MAGGIE BARBER COLLECTION: VERY FINE NET NEEDLE WEAVING EMBROIDERED DOYLEY, Early 1900's
Textiles. Oval in shape, with a scalloped edge trimmed with a fine picot edged braid. The floral ''needle weaving'' embroidery comprises two petalled flowers, with raised bulliow stitch embroidered centres.
