Has a number of pages of light manila colour paper stock printed with a sepia ink. Many black and white photographs. Magazine cutting contained within Reg. Item 2488, page 31, titled "History of the Ballarat Tramways" from the Feb. 1939 issue of the "SEC Magazine". Report on a recent paper by H.P. James to the Historical Society about the experimental battery tram in Ballarat in October 1888. Notes that Duncan and Fraser input into the Julien Battery experiment, Mr. Bullimore the electrician and trails and problems with the track. Also has notes regarding tramways in Ballarat East Township. Accompanying the item are handwritten notes about the tramcar used and its fate. Has a strong association with the story of the BTPS in its first four years, developing the Museum, acquiring additional trams and a brief history of the SEC trams in Ballarat.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, dated 10/1978, titled "Ballarat's tourist tramway carries 100,000th passenger". Printed in a "Courier Tourist" Section, gives details of the 100,000th passenger, BTPS history, that of the trams in Ballarat, closure. On the rear of the sheet continues story and gives details of the then BTPS fleet (14, 26, 27 & 28, 48 and 40). Notes that the BTPS had by then acquired No. 39, W3 661, W4 671, 33 and 11, 121, 35 and X1 463. Photocopy of an article in the State Electricity Commission of Victoria Magazine, Contact, Vol 1, No. 3, Nov. 1936 titled "Geelong Electric Tramways". Two A4 sheets. The article gives a short history of the development of the Geelong tramway system, replacement of petrol buses, extensions to Belmont, Chilwell and North Geelong. Gives track construction details, track renewals from 1924 (concrete stringers replacement), trolley wire, power supply (550V DC), rolling stock, Birney trams, services, fares, passenger numbers and the new SEC green uniforms. Has a photo of the Geelong depot with senior staff named and a photo of a tramwayman in the new Green uniform. Trams 27,30, 5, 23 and 6. Yields information about the condition of the ESCo tram fleet at the time of the SEC takeover of the operations their appearance, the reconstruction work and trackwork to rehabilitate the system. Demonstrates an important era of the Ballarat Tramways through the SEC preparing an album of photographs. The completeness of the record adds to the significance.Photo Album - comprising folded manila card covers, 11 photo sheets each with two, one with three black and white photos. Has three metal - steel fold back clips holding the sheets together. Folded so that the metal clips are not exposed on the outside.
