Fourteen Miniature Models of Nurses from Primitive Era to 1980's. They were Dean Nancy Long's idea and she had them made. They were used for "Careers" information when visiting High Schools. In 1972 when the uniforms changed from traditional to more modern trend they created interest for prospective trainee nurses. Each has a frame and a name tag in Roman script Collection of fourteen miniature Dolls. Primitive Woman - First nurse was the mother - probably a "matriarchal" head of the family. Men were the hunters and absent for long periods. Women grew seeds for food and likely first medicines. Infectious diseases depleted numbers and the sick were regarded as occurring through witchcraft. Miniature Doll Hygeia - The ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Romans believed gods directed physical welfare. Temples were built for priests - physicians. In Greece temples remains of "Asklepios" provided hostels, hospital wards, bath houses, gymnasia. Hygeia symbolized health and panacea. Hippocrates born in 460BC was a great physician and held ideals of ethical conduct and practice.
