The two photographs show cable trams being shunted into the Brunswick Cable Tram Depot or car house from Sydney Road. The first shows a horse pulling a bogie tram trailer into the car house while the second shows the grip being pushed in by hand. Note the raised position of the grip when this shunting task is performed - 1920s. Shows an 8 track tram depot in association with existing Wendouree Parade trackwork. Prepared by Hadfield's Sheffield, drawing No. 6745 as Plan No. 6. Has a strong association with some of the volunteer workers who undertook work for the BTPS in there 1972/73 period.Black and white photographs of the installation of a pole adjacent to No. 3 road. The depot fan is progressing, No. 1 road points have been installed, overhead troughing to No. 2 and 3 roads installed and the transformer is by No. 1 road door. Date possibly 16 June 1973 - based on the list of dates in the 1972 - 73 Annual Report. Newspaper Clipping - from The Argus Monday 15/3/1937, titled "Six Trams Damaged with Road Metal", about the damage caused at the time of the closure of the South Melbourne and Port Melbourne cable tram services - by souvenir hunters and people at the Port Melbourne depot who through road metal (stones) at the trams as they came into the depot. The timeline gives the date of closure as Saturday 13/3/1937. Notes one of the Gripmen was a Mr. J. Armstrong. Functional object - Key, Bundy Clock Key - 18A and K116, c1940?
.1 - Key - or Bundy Clock Key - brass, rounded head with drilled hole stamped "Tramways" on one side and "18" on the other side with a steel section that controlled the action of the recording clock and provided the means of stamping the number "18A" onto a paper tape. Used from South Melbourne depot in the time recording Bundy clocks that were located around the MMTB system.
