This album comes from the estate of Dorothy and Agnes Ardlie. It contains black and white photographs of their childhood days with their family members. Dorothy Ardlie (1910-1993) and her sister Agnes Ardlie (1915-1993) wee the daughters of Arthur and Ethel Ardlie of Warrnambool, granddaughters of the prominent Warrnambool lawyer, William Ardlie and his wife Mary and great granddaughters of John and Mary Ardlie, pioneer Warrnambool settlers. They lived for some years at Aroona, 19 Princess Street WarrnamboolThis album is of interest as a memento of Dorothy and Agnes Ardlie, members of a prominent 20th century family in Warrnambool. John David Roberts, LTh (MCD) was born in Brisbane, QLD in 1918. He was ordained in the Congregational ministry in Windsor, QLD in 1946. The apparently haphazard arrangement of fabric pieces in a quilt made of scraps doesn't always preclude a conscious sense of design. The pieces in this quilt have been carefully arranged according to size and colour, possibly indicating that it was intended to go on a bed as a spread without a cover. Placed in a room that may not have been adorned with many other decorative items, this quilt would have been a colourful and inexpensive home furnishing solution.Patchwork quilt made from large pieces of wool suitings, colourful clothing off cuts and woollen blankets. It was probably made to be placed on the head table at meetings of the Naval Association of Australia.A cut of the Naval Association of Australia Badge attached to a wooden background set on a wooden base. The badge has a King's Crown on top indicating that it is pre 1954. Provision is made in the side for flags to be inserted. It has the Australian Flag mounted on one side and Royal Navy Flag on the opposite side.
