Rev. C. P. Schwieger, known as Percy, was vicar at Holy Trinity from October 1934 to 1953. Many Children in Surrey Hills were baptised by him as there was a population explosion following WW2. There is a stained glass window of Mary and Martha with Jesus that he donated to the church in memory of his wife Mary, obit. 6.4.1949. He oversaw many improvements to the church properties over the time when the parish was extending to St Augustine in Balwyn and land was obtained for the church at Wattle Park, now closed. Published in c1948 by Wightons Print, 215 Moreland Road, Coburg. These chapbooks were sold door to door after WWII by members of the Partially Blinded Soldiers Association in Victoria to fundraise for the association. The Association was established in 1924 to serve the interests and welfare of partially blinded returned soldiers. The author, George Robert Riley (late AIF and AMF) was born in Drouin in 1890; died in 1952. He trained as a compositor. Served in France and was partially blinded during WWI. He also enlisted during WW2 when he seems to have lowered his age. There do not appear to be many copies of this publication that have survived. It does not appear in either the State Library of Victoria or the National Library of Australia catalogue. The Museum of Victoria may have a copy. Apart from its significance as a fundraiser for returned soldiers, it documents culinary fashions in the post-WW2 period. Although a number of the recipes in Part 1 have exotic names, they are yet to be influenced by post-war migration to Australia.A 32 page booklet held by 2 metal staples. The paper is stained and embrittled but was probably originally cream. The cover depicts a soldier at rest under a palm tree dreaming of home and a hearty meal. Image of gravestone in memory of Lieutenant Albert Sargent VX15290 born on the 3rd of November, 1918 at Wangaratta in Victoria. He was a member of Z Special Unit and involved in Operation RIMAU when he was captured and executed by the Japanese in Malaya on the 7th of July, 1945 during WW2. Operation RIMAU - In September, 1944, 23 British and Australian members of Z Special Unit travelled from Australia by submarine to the outskirts of Singapore Harbour then under Japanese occupation. This photographic magazine attaches to the gear box universal ( see cat 4531). As an assembly, the type F22 aerial camera came into RAF and RAAF service c1942. It was used by the RAF over Europe and by the RAAF extensively through the Sth. West Pacific area of operations, during WW2. This type of camera was used through the Vietnam war up to the early 1980's. The F22 camera assembly when mounted in the reliable Canberra aircraft, did aerial survey work in PNG, Indonesia, Malaysia and Sumatra and the Australian mainland. This type of camera was used in Spitfires, Mosquitos, Avro Lincolns and Canberra aircraft.This is a heavy metal container painted in a grey colour. The label is on the top. One side has two enlarged oval sections. in those two ovals is one hole of 22 mm diameter. In those holes is a disc painted half red and half white. Below the ovals are two levers connected to the internal mechanism. Bottom RHS has a disc with 2 pins, red dots are printed on it. Nearly level with the top of ovals is a kidney shaped hole. In that hole is a rotating disc with graduations and numbers. the action side of magazine has a rectangular opening size 83/4" x 7/16". Biography, the exceptional life of Wilma Oram Young AM, an Australian Nurse, a captive of the Japanese during WW2. After the War following her return to Australia she was inspired to help her fellow ex POW’s and war veterans through her tireless work with the RSL. VH-UQM (Miss Currie) was the second commercial plane to operate out of Western Junction (after Miss Flinders), the first owned by the Holyman Brothers, which eventually become ANA etc. And we think it was one of the first planes destroyed in WW2, when it was lost in the hangar fire in Broken Hill just after war was declared. It was believed to have been sabotaged by Italian or German workers at Broken Hill at the time. It also was part of the early Flying Doctor service in NSW. Item currently held in Archives Australian National Aviation Museum (ANAM) September 2021

The embroideries were machine chained onto colourful cotton sateen (often mistakenly thought to be silk) and usually bear the words 'Souvenir of Egypt' and a year date. Most have a distinctly Egyptian flavour and show the pyramids, camels or date palms. Others show images associated with different armies (such as the Australian Rising Sun Badge, New Zealand General Service Badge or British unit badges) or nations (such as the Australian coat of arms). However, during WW2 they were usually embroidered on black velveteen and the variety of images was not as great as had been available during the First World War. These types of souvenirs were very popular with Australian troops; they were easy to send home and were colourful. Lieutenant Albrecht was interned in Dhurringile during WW2, the images are of articles found in his books by his son Otto Albrecht, who forwarded copies by email. The Future of Legacy had been main topic of the conference. Plus the change over dinner had been in the Olympic Room at the MCG and it was felt future changeover dinners should be of similar importance. The presidential year ran from March to the following February. Was in a binder of documents that is passed from an outgoing President to the incoming President. It is primarily from the 1930s to 1990s. Ada Lyon, nee Apted (1898-1962) was a member of the Eltham War Memorial Trust which in 1945 decided that a WW2 memorial in Eltham should include a baby health centre, a children's library and a pre-school centre. Ada Lyon worked tirelessley as a member of the women's auxiliary to raise funds for the memorial. The third and final stage of the Memorial was opened in November 1961. Following her death the following year; a memorial sundial was erected in recogintion of her work for the War Memorial Trust. Words on the plaque read: "To the memory of Mrs Ada Lyon in recognition of her work for this Trust".The sundial recognising the local contribution of Ada Lyon is of local historical significance in not only recognising a woman for her contributions during an era when women were generally unrecognised publically but is also a reminder to current generations of her work and that of her peers to iniate the war memorial in honour of local enlistments in WW2.Roll of 35mm colour negative film, 10 strips. Though described as WW2, this image is probably from WW1 era. Possibly identified as the Chateu d'Ecouen located 5.6 kms from Montmorency, a northern suburb of Paris. From 1850, it was the site of a secondary school for girls of the Legion d'Honneur. Today it is a musem dedicated to the Renaissance. Cyril Raymond Scarborough PRE WW2 served in 38th BN Militia 1921-1938. From 1939 h tried to join the RAAF as “Carpenter General” his trade, rejected several times no position available. Finally accepted on 26.2.42 age 37 plus years No 51255. There are no embarkation dates recorded but on 1.6.44 repairing a bridge over the Raku River Aitape during enemy action and occupation he crushed his right foot and was hospitalised in New Guinea returning to duty on 16.10.44. At the end he enlisted in the “Interim Army” from 24.7.46 and went on to serve in BCOF Japan. These trousers are from the Light brigade, and therefore would have an interesting history and research value. If this item was attached to other items connected to the wars,WW1, WW2, it could good interpretive history. Unfortunately we do not know who they belonged to, but since they were donated to the UC op shop it may be a local person in the Kiewa Valley. Jan 2013 - We have just found out these trousers are infact from the German Army from WW1 and would have been brought back home by one of local soldiers who were in the light horse, which a few men from Tawonga served in.If this item was donated by a local person, this would make it very signfigant due to attached social history about that person. Therefore significance would be, historic, re light brigade history, and the German Army, since we now know these are German Army pants. Research value as above. In 1899 the tramways were sold to the Electric Supply Company of Victoria and in 1903 the trams were converted to electricity. After WW1 the SEC was formed and took over the running of the trams. With the increased usage of cars, patronage of the trams began to drop off after WW2. In 1972 the tramways closed as a commuter service. A photo that was kept in an album of past presidents and prominent Legatees. The photo shows Legatee Ron Austin with Legatee Sam Benson at a function in Legacy House. Legatee Benson appears to be counting money, perhaps donations or door entry. Ron Austin has the distinction of being the youngest surviving Melbourne Legatee to have served in WW1, he also served in WW2 and received an OBE for his tireless devotion to duty. The article was part of an album of past presidents from 1965 to 1989. The folder included biographical details and obituaries, eulogies and death notices of prominent Legatees. Organ purchased in 1886 by Presbyterian Church, Girgarre East (Springvale) and used continually there until 1975. Bought then by W&D Ballantyne (Harston). They gave it to this museum in 2009 on permanent loan. Used during WW2 when internee was married in the church. Girgarre East Presbyterian Church. Mrs M Clapp was the organist who played it at Springvale Presbyterian Church, Harston, for church services and Japanese weddings from internees at Camp 4. When Mrs Clapp became to old to play the pedal organ the Church purchased an electric organ for her. The donor purchased the pedal organ for personal use then donated it to the Museum.
