Anzac Day school children's medallion, issued in 1916. The medallion was struck by the Education Department of Victoria for distribution to school children to commemorate the first anniversary of ANZAC day on 25th April, 1916. This example is struck from bronze, the medallions were available in a variety of materials and finishes. The medallions were sold through schools on behalf of the War Relief Fund. Obverse has the head of George V. Medal, Military Medal GV, Instituted 25th March 1916
Instituted in 1914, the Military Cross (MC) was issued for gallantry in presence of the enemy to warrant and junior officers of the Army who were ineligible (on account of their rank) for the Distinguished Service Order. During the First World War, it was also available to equivalent ranks in the Royal Naval Division and Royal Marines and it later became available to equivalent ranks in the RAF for acts of gallantry on land. The equivalent award for the other ranks for gallantry on land in presence of the enemy was the Military Medal (MM) which had been instituted in 1916 and, similarly to the MC, later became available to RAF other ranks serving on the ground. This medal was awared to Pte H. S Holgate for bravery in the field in 1917. Pte Holgate was killed in action at Zonnebeke 11 October 1917. Historical and social significance for schoolSilver medal with a swivelling suspension. features King George the V, uncrowned, in Field Marshal's uniform on the obverse. The medal reverse depicts the crowned royal cypher over the words "FOR BRAVERY IN THE FIELD" all within a laurel wreath. Impressed around edge are the recipient's details. The ribbon has a central stripe of thin red and white lines flanked by equally sized stripes of navy. Inscribed around obverse: 'GEORGIVS V BRITT: O[M]N: REX ET IND: IMP:' Inscribed in centre of reverse below royal insignia : 'FOR/BRAVERY/IN THE/FIELD' Impressed around OUTER edge of medal: '4303 PTE H. Clothing - HELEN MUSK COLLECTION: PURPLE LINEN COAT
Lightweight knee length linen coat with long sleeves. The coat is single breasted with a V neckline with a fold over collar of black linen fabric. There are two rows of black cotton piping on the edges of the collar. The front is made up of four pieces. The two centre panels are shaped at the bust line. The two side panels are narrow at the shoulders and flare slightly from the hip line to the hem line. There is a decorative line of stitching on the front seams. The front of the coat is fastened with three black buttons (2 cm) and button holes. The back of the coat is made up of three pieces. The centre panel is shaped in at the waistline. The two side panels are narrow at the shoulders and flare slightly from hip line to hemline. The two back seams each have three decorative black buttons (2 cm) vertically between bust line and waist. There is a decorative line of stitching on the back seams. The coat has long set in sleeves shaped at the elbow and with black linen cuffs (10 cm). There are two rows of black cotton piping on the top edge of each cuff and one row of black cotton piping on the lower edge of each cuff. There is a 14 cm cotton tape hanging tag stitched inside the coat just below the collar on the back. Machine stitched.costume, female daywear, linen coat -

A series of nine coloured photos in Album 8. p 37-42 of the Seaby house and interior. Photos in album 8 show 3 different views of the side of the building. One of the wood paneling in the entrance hall. Also 3 photos of the mantlepieces and cast iron grates in the fireplace. Luke Kinsella, brother to Thomas Kinsella's (part owner of Magdala cum Moonlight mine). Thomas was the eldest of the boys then Luke and John Kinsella the youngest. It was renamed after the original Greensborough Hotel (on corner Grimshaw and Church Streets Greensborough) burnt down in 1923.
