Photo shows one of the Maximum Traction Bogies trams built for the Hawthorn Tramways Trust by Duncan and Fraser of Adelaide in 1917-1918. Photographed in the Hawthorn Depot some time before May 1925. This tram began its life as HTT No. 30. The body was sold in 1944. Photo shows the installation of new special work or junction at High St and Brighton Road at Carlisle St St Kilda 17/3/1974. The work was part of the major road widening project of High Street between St Kilda Junction and Carlisle St with the trams relocated into their own reservation. The track was raised 18 inches or about 450mm above the previous road level. Details a Petition to the Parliament of Victoria, Legislative Council from the Melbourne Tramways Trust, the owners of the cable tram infrastructure. The Municipalities that formed the Trust were concerned that the construction of electric tramways within their Municipalities would be in contrary to the Act that set up the cable trams and reduced revenue received from the cable tram operator, the MTOCo. They sought that Parliament would not sanction such tramways without the consent of the Trust's municipalities or members.
