Used to suspend a tramway contact wire from catenary wires, or directly from a span pole. The contact wire is placed between the two halves and clamped in place by fastening the screws. Tickets printed and issued by the Victorian Railways for the Sandringham to Beaumaris motor coach (bus) service, following the closure of the tramway to Black Rock in 1956. All tickets numbered for accounting purposes.Yields information about the VR Ticketting System for its Tramways and motor coach services.Set of 7 Victorian Railways Sandringham to Beumaris Motor Coach ticket blocks. Printed on white sheets, stapled at the top with a large staple onto a cardboard backing strip. Each value in green ink with black print information. Each block has the ticket number printed on the stub of the ticket that remained with the block when torn off. Prepared from inspecting the Plans of Ballarat services drawings in the Ballarat Water Board's Offices. Dated c1927, shows the St Kilda Road lines to electric. On the bottom right hand corner has a reference to the Tramway Tourist Car - and the tours it does. Lapel Badge for the Tramway Board (predecessor to MMTB and the successor to the Melbourne Tramway and Omnibus Co. staff. Has abbreviation of "TB". Made from a cast brass item, nickel plated to indicate the position held by the wearer as part of their uniform. Cast in the form of the handwritten or script word/s and underlined. ticketDemonstrates a variety of weekly tickets used by the Provincial Tramways in Victoria.A collection of weekly tramways tickets, produced by the Electricity Supply Department for the State Electricity Commission of Victoria. The tickets are for use on the provincial tramways of Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. The weekly tickets, printed on colored paper with either black or red ink, have a value between 1/6d and 2/-. Some of the tickets are individually numbered, and all show the value by displaying a large, colored number on the face of the ticket. Functional object - Brass coin holder - 3d and 6d
Used by tramway revenue clerks, most likely the MMTB, including the Ballarat Tramway Museum to count coins, as only so many 3d or 6d would fit into each container. Each has a hole in the base to enable it to be checked that it was empty prior to use or after being used. One of the 3d containers have a loose "washer" which shows the nature of the construction. Has been secured with a piece of wrapping tape. One of the 6d tubes has a label advising that it would hold "$30 of $2 coins"Demonstrates the methodologies used to count coins and stack them in a revenue office. Provides a sample of each coin that would have been used. Brass coin holder - for use in counting 3d and 6d coins. Made from brass tube with a brass washer rolled or fixed to one end.
