Yields information about the operation of BTPS owned tram in Bourke St Melbourne and the streetscape at the time of the operation.Black and White photograph of conduit (electric) trams in Blackpool England. The system was offered to the City of Ballarat when the tramway operations were being tendered. Shows two open top double decker electric trams, the centre conduit, advertising Holdens Dining Rooms and the three story buildings in the background and a horse drawn coaches.In ink on rear. "16a" and "In 1885 Holroyd Smith of the United Kingdom sent a tender to Ballarat to construct a conduit tramway in that city, similar to the one he had constructed in Blackpool United Kingdom in the same year. Has a strong association with the Rose Stereograph Co, demonstrates the gardens displays in Ballarat c1960's and yields information about the streetscape at the time.Colour postcard print of the central median gardens, Sturt St, with the Town Hall in the background and bogie tram No. 37 on the South Side. Has festoon lighting and other street decorations (Begonia Festival?) in the view. In the background are Myers, the Town Hall and Fletcher Jones store. Only known photograph of this type of tramcar.Stereo pair of photos, black and white, of a 7 window horse tram in Wendouree Parade, possibly near Windmill Drive, Nth end, mounted on heavy card. Photographed and published by Geo Rose. Has many lady passengers on the top deck of the tramcar. Tram has the destination of "Boatsheds". Possibly around 1900. Only known photo as at 2/96 of these seven 7 window horse tram in Ballarat. For a print of one of these photos - see Reg. Item 258. Photo of the scene looking southwest from the Post Office area, with an ESCo tram hauling a trailer and another tram on the opposite side of the roadway. Has the Town Hall, National Mutual Building, C Marks, and Snows in the view. Wal has dated the photo about 1913 on the rear of the postcard and about 1912 in his album notes - considered c1905 as the destinations are hanging from the front of the tram. They were soon after moved to the roof of the tram in a destination box. in the card sent to Ken Magor by Wal Jack, he notes the the Historical Museum has a large photo of this and you can see No. 12 outlined very clearly. Taken soon after the SEC upgrade of the building and track work - approx. 1935 or 1936. Shows toilet on south west corner, gates and fence between he depot and the future tennis court. Tram has destination of 'Gardens via Drummond Nth'. Has a number of parked vehicles in kerbs, two people riding horses, a Vacuum Oil Co. truck in the bottom right hand corner and an SEC tram travelling west, just past the City Loop points.
