Legacy have many programs to send young junior legatees on activities, camps and outings. One photo shows Santa arriving by motorbike The other shows a young girl eating. The venue was the Stapley Pavilion in the Kings Domain/Royal Botanic Garden which was used for many years. They appear to be from the sale film. Exact date unknown, thought to be early 1990s. It was stored with other photos of Junior Legatees from the 1980s and 1990s. A home sewing needle kit. These paper sleeved novelty needle books were available in the late 19th Century. They were often free as a promotional give-away. In the 1900's they were colourful and fun.A vintage Novelty Needle Book made in Japan with 50 needles mounted inside a pop up card. The needles are presented in gold and red strips attached to a coloured card depicting two small children playing on a see-saw with their teddy bear in a garden. Five needles are missing. Kathleen Gartside with a cabbage grown by her father Jack Gartside on their property located on Centre Dandenong Road, Dingley. The Gartside family home was located opposite the Kingswood Golf Club in Dingley. The cabbage has a circumference of 12 feet, whilst the cabbage heart has a circumference of four feet. The Gartside family were a prominent local Dingley family, owning large market gardens and operating Gartside Bros Pty Ltd, a straight vegetable cannery employing large numbers of people. They were also keen golfers and around 1937, they leased 126 acres of their land to the Kingswood Golf Club. Jack Gartside moved his family home to the other side of Centre Dandenong Road, so that the Kingswood Clubhouse could be built. The first official games were played at Kingswood in March 1937. A report by the Future Requirements Committee dated 11 October 1978. The Committee members were(Chairman): I.W. Anderson, E. Cohen, A.N. Kemsley, L.D. King, J.M. Poulton, R.L. Simmons The Committee notes that its recommendations would probably be resisted by some Legatees but were necessary to meet the changing needs of dependants. They highlighted cancelling the supply of firewood, cessation in 1978 of the Badge Day appeal in Melbourne and the special Christmas promotion, and the Christmas Garden Party at Government House. Boys and Girls classes to be phased out, and Blamey House and Stanhope residences to be closed in 1979-80, with dental care to cease in 1980.
