The garage was located in Bath Lane and was once the Cobb & Co. Letting Stables. Adam Lindsay Gordon lived in a cottage behind the stables. The Town Hall Hotel can be seen in the background. John Cox had mining and farming interests at Linton from about 1860. He was an uncle of John Henry Cox, also a Linton identity. This photograph is part of Old Lintonian collection ; No. 15. Another very similar (but damaged) photograph of same pair (Registration no. 393) shows a young boy, presumably a son, standing behind the woman.
