Courier left a bequest to the College consisting of a significant number of artworks by himself and others.Abstract oil painting on board, consisting of multicoloured geometric shapes. There are red and yellow shapes at centre, surrounded by blue and green shapes, suggesting an image of a cliff at the seaside. Back of board contains handwritten text which reads 'Title RED CLIFF/Price $200/Artist JOHN COURIER/368 TOORAK RD/STH YARRA/W49/IPEC'. The letters 'JAA' enclosed in a circle are also written on the back of the work. Small D-ring fittings are attached to the back of the work for hanging.

Major General C H Brand was born in Ipswich Qld on the 4 September 1873. he fought in both the South African war and WW1. He commanded the 3rd Battalion at Gallipoli and the 6th Brigade in 1915-16 and the 4th Brigade in 1916-18 in France. he retired after 37 years of Service and was elected a senator for the United Party in 1935, stepping down in 1947. The Fashion & Design collection of the Kew Historical Society includes examples of women’s, men’s, children’s and infants’ clothing from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Items in the collection were largely produced for, or purchased by women in Melbourne, and includes examples of outerwear, protective wear, nightwear, underwear and costume accessories. Golda Whelan, a designer with Hartnell of Melbourne designed this wedding dress for her daughter Liane Whelan. One of the men pictured outside the South Yarra Fruit Palace is Nick Sikiotis. Located at 600 Chapel Street in South Yarra, Sikiotis established the business in 1922. He also established a shop at 345 Toorak Road, on the corner of Rockley Road which was leased to a florist. His business was one of many owned and operated by Ithacans in both the Melbourne CBD and surrounding suburbs during the first decade of the twentieth century. Denis Sikiotis (Skiotis) is the young man who was lifting up his young cousin, Jim Morris (Mortaitis). They are pictured in South Yarra where Jim's family operated a milk bar located on the corner of Osborne Street and Toorak. Denis and his brother Hector were sponsored by their aunt Marigo Sikiotis to come Australia to study at RMIT. The white woman of Gippsland, or the captive woman of Gippsland, was supposedly a European woman rumoured to have been held against her will by Aboriginal people in the Gippsland region of Australia in the 1840s. Liam Patrick Davison (29 July 1957 – 17 July 2014) was an Australian novelist and reviewer. He was born in Melbourne, where, until 2007, he taught creative writing at the Chisholm Institute in Frankston. Davison and his wife Frankie, a teacher at Toorak College, were both killed on 17 July 2014 aboard Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 This, his third novel, was shortlisted for both The Age Book of the Year and the Victorian Premier’s Awards.This is a useful research tool on the history of indigenous and settler relationships in early Gippsland.A book titled "The White Woman" by Liam Davison.
