"The uncertainty was magnified by a range of post-war concerns and expectations that the expansionary 1949 budget brought into sharp focus. Further, rising inflation was a problem, with the Consumer Price Index rising by more than 10 per cent in 1949. Photos show W class 304 after delivery from Adelaide being unloaded by the travelling yard crane. The tram was built in Adelaide by the Holden Bodyworks and completed at the Workshops. The tram entered service on 14-8-1924. It was converted to a W2 class tram in Dec. 1932. The second photo shows the tram being loaded onto a horse-drawn jinker.
