This piece is possibly an Inuit sculpture from Alaska.Small stone sculpture of a mother and child, carved from a single piece of soft stone. Sculpture depicts a kneeling figure, with jacket and scarf, holding a baby bundled in cloths in front of them. The sculpture is made of dark, relatively soft stone. The base is carved with a number, '30107' and additional text which may be the name of the artist.

There is a manufacturing mark on the back of the base of the statue. The top row of text is obscured, but the remaining test on the mark reads 'porcellane/PRINCIPE/MADE IN ITALY'. A small Certificate of Origin tag is attached to the weighing scales by a small, thin cord. Sticker underneath the base of the statue reads 'BELLINI/PONTE VECCHIO/FIRENZE'.

Jetter and Scheerer were a surgical instrument maker founded in Germany in 1867. Their company symbol is that of a serpent curled around a rod, surmounted by a coronet/crown. This instrument was part of a collection of instruments used by Dr Michael Kloss in his medical practice. Dr Kloss subsequently donated this collection to the College.Metal forceps, consisting of two blades which lock together with a pin fitting. The handle of one of the forceps blades is engraved with the word 'Kloss', both on the outside and on the inner aspect. The number '26' is engraved on the inner aspect of both blades near the pin joint. The upper shaft of one blade is engraved with the word 'HOSON'. Black leatherbound volume containing certification documents to indicate completion of studies for a medical degree. This is one of a collection of items received from the practice of Dr Lachlan Hardy-Wilson, FRCOG, Launceston, Tasmania.Set of small surgical forceps. Forceps resemble tweezers, with pointed ends. There is a corrugated section of metal at the centre of the forceps for grip. One arm of forceps has a small pin, which fits into a hole on the other arm of the forceps. Engraved text on inner aspect of forceps reads 'STAINLESS STEEL'.

Used to take a sample from the cervix as part of a cervical biopsy. 'Rostfrei' is a German word meaning 'rust free', which is an equivalent term for stainless steel.Stainless steel cervical punch. Consists of a long, thin metal shaft, extending out in a perpendicular fashion from the handle. There is a small cutting tooth at the end of the shaft. Handle consists of an oval shaped trigger attached to a solid metal handle. A curved metal spur extends from the back of the handle to provide purchase for thumb grip. This crochet chart was designed by the twentieth century crochet pattern designer, Mary Card, for the Victorian Centenary in 1934. It was published in the Australian Home Beautiful magazine on November 1934. The chart was published in four sections, with instructions for working it as a complete piece. Leo Charles Roy Pallamountagne was born at Moyhu, Vic, Aus. and at the time of WW 1 was employed as a farm hand on the property of Mrs Ellen McCormack (nee Power) at Ovens Vale, Victoria, Australia. Ellen's husband, John McCormack, had deceased 1916. Leo was born at Moyhu, Vic. 1899. He enlisted for service abroad on 30/8/1916 and was posted to the 21st Battalion, Serial No. 6829. Leo's next of kin was nominated as Clara Pallamountagne of Benalla, Victoria. Leo's father was listed as "whereabouts unknown" at the time of Leo's enlistment. Leo was wounded in action in France, Oct 1917. Leo returned to Australia on 10th March 1919 and was discharged on 17th April the same year. Leo (or Leon) married Evelyn Mary Paxman in 1922, they had seven children. Leo died on 23rd April, 1941 at the Military Hospital, Caulfield. Address in 1931 was Pier Street, Dromana. The "Dead Man's Penny" of Private George Matthews (24/1744) is a district link to the First World War. George enlisted with the Otago Regiment, New Zealand Expeditionary Force as a rifleman. Born in 1891, he was a former pupil of Myrtleford State School 955 and was one of four first cousins killed in action and recorded in a memorial window and honour board at the Uniting (formerly Methodist) Church, the Soldier's Memorial Square and on the State School Honour Board. George's parents, John and Mary Matthews,received the plaque in a pack, together with a letter and commemorative scroll from King George V. George Matthews is buried at the Caterpillar Valley (N.Z.) Memorial, France, having died on October 1, 1916, aged 25. The memorial plaque links local family tragedy to world conflict. It represents the impact of such events must have had on small town communities. George Matthews' enlistment in New Zealand is an indicator of the migratory nature of men involved in gold mining after the decline of the industry in Victoria and New South Wales in the late 19th centuryA World War 1 memorial plaque issued to next-of-kin of all British and Empire service personnel who died as a result of the war. They were round and cast in bronze, hence their similarity to the much smaller penny coin. The plaque includes an image of Britannia, holding a trident and standing with a lion. Britannia holds an oak leaf above the deceased's name, which is recorded without rank.
