Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.1716 - Block of 200 tickets - yellow ink on off white paper, denomination 5c, lettered B 639400 to B 639599, headed State Electricity Commission of Victoria, Provincial Tramways. On rear in yellow ink is a SEC advertisement "ELECTRICITY makes life easier" with the SEC's little boy wrapped in a towel logo. The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple and a small cardboard retaining strip at the top of the ticket. Nine Page photocopy of a Westinghouse manual for Westinghouse S6-A and S6-B Compressor Governors (often known as Beatle Back type). Includes cross sectional diagrams of both compressors, photographs, connection diagrams, and detailed descriptions. The descriptions include notes on the compressor, switch portion, regulating portion of the device, regulation and adjustments, setting of cutouts, installation and maintenance. Originally prepared by Westinghouse, Wilmarding PA, USA, 20/9/1916. Retyped by MMTB 5/1955 and provided to Warren Doubleday from Preston Workshops c1980. Copy contained within a stapled and bound manila folder with handwritten title on outside. 2nd copy added 9-6-2019 from the Melbourne Tram Museum - in a manila folder with a black binding. Thirty two page book contained within a heavy card cover, saddle stapled. Printed on gloss paper with many black and white photos inside and colour cover. Book titled "Melbourne Tram Review" written by R.A. Birrell Details the formation of the MTA, The Met or the Metropolitan Transit Authority from the MMTB in 1983, the changing nature of the fleet, depots and allocations of tramcars, listing of tram classes, with various technical specifications, including tramcar numbers and photographs. For the B class, includes those which were not in service at the time of publication. Two separate allocation listings are given, the last one being that at 19/9/1988. Has contents pages, introduction by author and on rear cover, a listing of other publications produced by the publisher, Railmac. Smith" Black ...Yields information about the change over from horse to electric trams and a comparison between the two types of trams, uniforms and clothing of passengers and the way destinations were shown.Black and White photograph, assumed a copy photograph of ESCo 16 and a horse tram - at Rubicon St where Sebastopol passengers transferred between horse and electric transport. No. 16 has two uniformed men at the front and a conductor on the rear stop, two children on the front seat and a lady on the rear. A uniformed horse tram driver is standing by the front of the horse. No. 16 has the destination of Grenville St, and a large sign "Sebastopol & Rubicon St Tramways via Drummond St". The destination is on the roof of the tram, possibly indicating early 1907 - 08. Used in The Golden City and its Tramways - page 42. Text notes the photograph was donated by a Mrs. I Butler. Demonstrates aspects of the Ballarat Tramways management system of Traffic Inspector rosters and that they worked a 38 week. Gives two different arrangements.Typed sheet, carbon copy, giving two forms of rosters for Traffic Inspectors. Titled "Traffic Inspectors Duty Rosters" and dated 30/9/1953 has rosters for (A) - four traffic inspectors - twelve week rotation and (B) for three inspectors - three weeks rotation. Shows the hours of work (all 38 hour week), starting and finishing times, for each day of the week. Did it change with the number of inspectors available? That is with one of the four being on leave.
