Alice Amelia Holloway married Arthur William Brooke in 1897 in Melbourne, Victoria. Alice was 25 years old at the time of her marriage. Alice died in 1959 in St. Kilda, Victoria. Her parents were James Charles Holloway and Mary Martha Bennett. Alice was born at Indigo via Rutherglen in 1872. This is her in her wedding finery. Photograph of Mrs Arthur Brooke (nee Alice Holloway). T. Ready Gates erected by Roy Ready, son of T. Ready. The gates were removed in the late 1950s. After being missing for some years, the gates were located in the Council depot, refurbished by Ian Stones, and in 2017 were placed on display in the Museum.Black and White photo of Memorial Gates that were once the Murray Street entrance to the Rutherglen Park. The plaque on the gate dedicates them to the Pioneers of Rutherglen.On back of photo: "Entrance to Park, behind Rutherglen Hotel" On separate document: "This Plaque was attached to the Memorial Gates which were at the Murray St Entrance to the Rutherglen Park. The Gates were created in Memory of the Pioneers of the Rutherglen District. Original photograph loaned by Sister de Sales of Presentation Sisters in 1988, together with a typed up history of the Sisters in Rutherglen. Father Lawless (later Monsignor) was Priest at St Mary's Rutherglen from 1923 until his death in September 1958. He is buried in Carlyle Cemetery.
