Textile - Image, 2001 Year of the Volunteer wall hanging, 2001
To celebrate the 2001 International Year of the Volunteer, each Vision Australia Foundation site constructed a wall hanging. These were proudly displayed in the various offices until refurbishments and reduction of physical office space reduced the ability to do this. Various hangings have been stored by volunteers or former staff members, however digital images were secured where possible. Ballarat's wall hanging shows Lake Wendouree and the Ballarat area around it. Mildura's wall hanging shows paddleboats on the Murray River, with grapes, a hot air balloon and a large sun.Cloth banner made by volunteers to celebrate 2001vision australia foundation, volunteers -

Audio - Sound recording, A Word from RPH: Richard Burger
RVIB Sheltered Workshop employee Richard Burger discusses the possible redundancies following the news that they would be laid off for a few days. During this time, The Age ran an article advising that workers were dismissed, whereas the Sun and Herald published an article disputing that. Both articles used a senior official at RVIB as a source, which led to those affected feeling unsupported and at risk of losing their jobs. From his point of view, Richard Burger talks about possible theories for the newspaper stories, management of the facility and the nature of the work undertaken in the factory.1 audio recording of an interview between Stephen Jolley and Graeme Innesroyal victorian institute for the blind, richard burger, employment -

wooden box, McLean, Don, Just prior to January 2010
This box was crafted from a portion of one of the original oak trees in the Jarrahmond WW11 Avenue of Honour. The Avenue was planted in 1955 and linked the farms of the two servicemen from Jarrahmond who lost their lives in WWII. It consisted of English Oaks interspersed with flowering peaches and cherries. Wood for the box was collected in the early 1990's by Stan Weatherall following a windstorm.
