This doll was reportedly won in a raffle in 1917, possibly in Orbost, Victoria.A female doll with its upper body including the arms made from porcelain and its lower body of fabric. It has genuine hair and also possibly eyelashes and its glass eyes are blue. It has painted eyebrows and mouth. The fact that the school had first operated tem­porarily in a leased building, and on a half-time basis with SS2745 Jarrahmond, did not dampen the enthusiasm of the local inhabitants as they saw their offspring commence their education under the guidance of HT Campbell Mackay. However he remained in charge only until 12th of May 1886. The second HT, John Rowe, served until 1908. On 30th of June 1887, a portable room was provided; it being brought to the area by schooner. The school now had accommodation for 30 pupils; the teacher's welfare was considered because quarters of two rooms were attached. As the population increased so did the needs of the school. Nicholas Scallan’s Store Stawell East c 1865-1870. In the worksheet notes: On the back of the original photograph are the inscriptions "The Scallan Grain Store and Skin Store in the early days. Stawell East. This may be mentioned in Maynard Ord's Book (Stawell Past & Present) From records many sales took place there as furniture, land sales, shares, commodities, auctions. Meetings were also held there, evidently a meeting place for miners. This image brings together two major events in International House history in 1972, the opening of the Scheps Wing, and the admittance of women. Female students were initially accommodated on separate floors, and the Council has since attempted to maintain between 25% and 50% female students. The Scheps Wing was opened in May that year, named in honour of donors Theodor and Ida Scheps, its 92 rooms accomodating the growth of IH's diverse student body. John Howie was IH Student Club President from 1971-1972, the first permitted to regularly attend IH Council Meetings after years of petitioning for Council representation by the Student Club. Originally this teaching model belonged to Prince Henry's hospital library and was transferred to the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton in the 1970s by Sister Gertrude Berger, a famous nurse-educator, who is best known for her work leading up to the transfer of nursing education in Victoria from hospitals to universities in 1986.Gerty (as she was known in the School of Nursing) bought them in Europe in the late 1940s and early 1950s.Teaching model- 3D Female Reproduction Organs Painted and numbered plastic mould, showing vagina and one ovary and fallopian tube in cross-section.
