“Maybe here” is a constant thought running through the back of my mind that something might happen where I’m standing. Tension builds at the slightest sound or suggestion of movement. How much of this fear is self-perpetuated and how much of it is warranted. How different would my experience be if I was someone else.This series is a departure from Janelle’s conceptual interests around Australian identity and multiculturalism. Using the project as a vehicle to confront and challenge her own personal concerns as well as a means to represent a more universal female experience.

This diary relates to the property Kenilworth which is situated near Cavendish, 16 miles from Hamilton on the Wannon River. It was taken up by Thomas Norris in 1839 and originally carried 800 cattle and 20000 sheep on 63000 acres. By 1858 it was in the hands of John Mackersey and Thomas Bostock. In 1859 it belonged outright to John Mackersey who was there until 1870. He was considered a worthy son of a Presbyterian minister and was well regarded in the district for his contributions in church, sport and sheep breeding... However he did not do well and lost the property before going to New Zealand in 1870.This diary has detailed entries over a number of years which provides an insight into life in the 1860’s. It has a significance for Warrnambool as John Mackersey and Augustus Bostock were at one stage business partners.Hard green cover with gold lettering. 534 pages of facsimile copied diary entries. Wallpaper fragment from an early workman's cottage in Weller St, Geelong West built in 1854. This property was refurbished following its sale in the early 1990s. Over time many layers of wallpaper had been pasted to the original paper. The wallpaper was damp and hanging off the walls. It was removed to reveal packing case 'slats' on the stud wall. When the skirting board was removed the original wallpaper was revealed. Although not a Warrnambool artefact, the Weller St property was owned by a local resident. The Fashion & Textiles collections of Kew Historical Society include a number of textiles, as well as women’s, men’s, children’s and infants’ clothing from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Textiles include items manufactured or created in the United Kingdom as well as in Australia. As other cultures opened to Australian travellers in the 20th century, members began collecting and donating textiles produced in a number of other countries. Fashion (or clothing/costumes) in the collection was essentially produced for, or purchased by women in Melbourne, and includes examples of outerwear, protective wear, This cocktail dress is one of a number of items donated to the Fashion Collection by Rosemary-Vaughan Smith.Medium length silver satin evening dress.
