Northern District School of NursingReminiscences of early nursing training of Ann Downey (Goodman) who commenced at the Children's Hospital in Carlton in 1950 but then changed to Bendigo in School3. There are two copies but pages 'd' and 'e' contain corrections in writing not noted in copies 'b' and 'c'. Mentions tutors: Miss Long, Margo Scott and Peg Donohue and doctors at Bendigo Hospital: her father Dr. Goodman, and Drs Slater, Sandner, Rosenthaal and Newson. After graduation in 1954 her first pay was '3 pounds'. She worked in Rochester. Northern District School of NursingSigned, handwritten note on nursing training commencing in 1970 by Anne Freeman (Williams). She lists first pay as $21 less board and tax $13 with uniform supplied although personal items such as boots and stockings and books had to be paid by herself. A list provided on commencement included "Pair Bedgegood Brown Lace Ups and Lyle Stockings". She dutifully wore the Lyle stockings on her first day (although they had been almost impossible to find) only to be told, "pantyhose were fine".
