35mm wide strip film of a copy of the front page of the Ballarat Courier of 30-7-1971, featuring the story of a Ballarat tram driver being hijacked on the Mt Pleasant route and the driver being tied up after travelling along the route. Film strip includes photograph of the order form and order cover - see item No. 710.1 for a print of the newspaper article. Concerns the tram hijack With item in folder 01-01-04 is a set of copies of the item. In box 01-03-60 is the item used in the CHHA Law & Order Exhibition 10/1997. Sets of SEC Provincial tramways pre purchase strip tickets (known in Bendigo as Section tickets) consisting of 6 No. 2d tickets (1/- worth), printed on green 210 gsm pasteboard and blind perforated at each ticket to enable them to be torn off and cancelled. Each ticket strip has the same ticket number. Form TYE 2-16. Each strip consists of 6 tickets, except .11, which is two tickets. Tickets availability printed on back of ticket - City and Section 2 or 2 3, between 2 and 3, or between 2, 3 and 4 or between 3 and 4. Not known when in use at time of cataloguing. Pre 1950's? Sets of SEC Provincial tramways pre purchase strip tickets (known in Bendigo as Section tickets) consisting of up to 12 No. 1d tickets (1/- worth), printed on 210 gsm orange pasteboard and blind perforated at each ticket to enable them to be torn off and cancelled. Each ticket strip has the same ticket number. Form TYE 2-15 See below for the ticket details of each strip. Each strip of 10 or 12 tickets has been folded in half. Seventy two page photocopied document within card covers and outer plastic covers with an additional introduction page between front clear plastic cover and card cover bound with a white comb binder. Book titled "Tramway Permanent Way" presenting a series of lectures by MMTB Per Way officers in 1928 at Hawthorn Depot. Contents in order: 1. Handwritten note from Chris Jacobson on Metropolitan Transit Authority of Victoria memo paper forwarding a copy to Warren Doubleday of the BTPS in Feb. 1988, with date received stamp at depot of 19/2/1988. 2. Photocopy of a memo on Metropolitan Transit letterhead from K. C. Painter dated 20/7/1987 to the Civil Engineering Design drafting staff forwarding a copy of the 1928 lectures to the then current staff. 3. Photocopy of a circular from J.P. Strickland, Chief Engineer to track inspectors, sub overseers, overseers and senior gangers advising that a series of weekly lectures on track work would be held at Hawthorn Depot commencing 23/1/1928. 4. Demonstrates the Museum's ticketing systems and ongoing production of tickets.Block of 200 tickets - brown ink on off white paper, denomination 40c, headed Ballarat Tourist Tramway. On rear in brown ink are details of the Ballarat Tourist Tramway operating details, contact address and that it is operated by a volunteer organisation. The 200 tickets have been stapled onto a heavy cardboard back with a heavy metal staple. The cardboard on the back has a cross hatched pattern in a teal colour. 2256.1 - A0001 to A0200 (the first block collected at the time of issue 1/8/1977) 2256.2 - A71801 to A72000 - collected 28/12/2002. 2256.3 - A99801 to 100000 - collected 30/6/2004 The tickets are in the style of the former State Electricity Commission of Victoria tramway tickets. Yields information the model tram used during the second world war and some of the people involved in fund raising in BallaratReproduction of c1944 photograph of Ballarat's Most Popular Conductress Competition to raise funds for the Red Cross Prisoner of War fund. Photo features a model tram, No. 41, known as the Treasure Tram with a group of boys and men group at the rear of the tram. Boys are dressed in army or sailors uniforms. Men dressed in army uniform and one SEC conductor with conductors bag around shoulder. From original of another reproduction believed to be held by the Ballarat Historical Society.
