Yields information about a system of tram passes that were provided to the City of Ballarat Councillors in 1960 and has a strong association with the Councillors himself.Stamped brass badge or pass for free travel on the Ballarat Tramways for the year 1906. Stamped to give the words "Ballarat Electric Trams 1906" on the outer edge of the Badge and then stamped out to give the letters 'B E T" on the inside of the badge. On the top of the badge, a hole has been provided and a steel ring fitted. On the rear of the badge has the letters "CR. D. Hughes" stamped on the top of the badge and on the bottom the manufacturer's name "Stokes" in a reverse stamp. Indicates badge issued to Councillor D. Hughes for the year 1906. A similar badge was sold on ebay for $US 49.95 December 2007 - paperwork on file. Images on file - images i3 and i4. Was issued to Councillor C. R. Brokenshire. E-mail from Alan Bradley, re additional item 29/1/2012 - See Reg Item - The Electric Supply Co issued the passes to councillors of the City of Ballaarat for free tram rides. I don't know whether passes also went to Ballarat East and Sebastopol councillors as well. In Bill Scott's "Last tram at 11" on page 41 is a 1912 poem 'The councillor's farewell to his tramway pass". The ESCo tried a few economy measures at that time. Passes for councillors were withdrawn in 1912, as were free passes for employees "owing to our financial position". Refer to the service of "BASIL DARBY" SX9423, 2/14 Bn.1. A round bronze colour badge, at top border - words "The Reunion", at bottom border - words - "60th Anniversary 2002". In the centre of the badge are two human head profiles, two spitfires, a ship and possibly a tank with big numerals '60' at bottom. 2. Oval brass coloured badge. On top border is the phrase '70th Anniversary' . At bottom border is the phrase - "Bombing of Darwin". In the centre are a flight of aircraft, tall and short humans and the phrase "1942 Front Line Australia". 3. This is a multi shaped badge. It has a stylised Rising Sun, superimposed on that is a dark red shape of Australia. Under that is a black enamel banner with the phrase "Darwin Defenders 1942-1945". 4. Randall Collection: Selection of badges relating to R Bruce Plowman. 7782.7a three brass and enamel badges, with pins; 7782.7b card from donor describing the badges: Description there of ''St Andrews PWMU'' badge - this is actually inscribed on the badge as: ''PYMBC Union of Victoria''; the 1937 Centenary badge is described by the donor as burning Bush group's but this is not noted on the badge itself; 7782.7c handwritten note from donor explaining some detail as to Plowman family and donor's father - he was an Elder at St. Andrews (when Rev. McLean was minister), he was known as the ''Man from Oodnadatta'' re this Australian Inland Mission work, he was at some stage President of the Bendigo Competitions and on the committee.

Cloth circular badges at the top of each sleeve are embroidered with a coat-of-arms, below which are two shields, one blue, and embroidered with a bunch of grapes, one red embroidered with a sheaf of wheat, a sheep, and perhaps a symbol of the landscape. Two breast pockets, rectangular with rounded lower corners and a shield shaped flap, closed with a 2 cm brass button impressed with a laurel wreath, and horn, suspended by a cord, and triple loop-a replica of British Light Infantry buttons. Two lower ''pockets'' are flaps only, giving the impression of a pocket only. Jacket lined with blue taffeta-like fabric-possibly polyester. One internal bound pocket inside right front. Four 2.5cm brass buttons (as on pockets) at centre front opening.
