Miss Olive Codling was a Foundation Member and a Life Member of the Wodonga Historical Society. Many of her prize-winning photos are held in the Society Collection. She also held a range of roles and committee positions in a wide range of Wodonga community organisations. These included the Horticultural Society, the Wodonga Arts Council, the Wodonga Camera Club and the Wodonga Lapidary Club. In 2018 GHS members visited Turner's Bakery in Mernda for lunch and continued on to visit historic sites remaining in the Mernda area. This photograph shows the Mernda Mechanics Institute, established 1888. It was sited to the rear of the Bridge Inn Hotel on land donated by the hotel's owner. Originally the Port Fairy Post Office built by Captain John Mason in 1865 in place of a wooden structure which he also built back in 1857. The Sub Branch male members began an annual day out in 2005 whereby they took travel by train to and from Gisbourne to enjoy each others company over a lunch and an ale and to while away the time. A Cohn Brothers Calendar for December, 1934. The Calendar features a famous painting by Britsh artist Sheridan Knowles. It evolved into a weekend 'trash and treasure' market although livestock auctions still took place on Mondays. This dress belonged to Meredith Lenné, a lifelong Brighton resident. She bought it around 1965-66 at Oggi, a fashion boutique at the "Paris End" of Collins Street, while she was working at the Royal Children's Hospital as an occupational therapist. It was her 'good' dress, worn to dinner parties, balls and lunches throughout the 1960s. The hem was taken up and adjusted several times as the fashion moved towards shorter skirts.Emerald green print midlength shift dress, sleeveless, with high neckline and high waist. Back zip. The Association of Railway Enthusiasts, a Melbourne based group, ran its first tour to Ballarat on 23 July 1961 and its last tour on 6 May 2023 also to Ballarat to visit the Museum. The group has subsequently ceased to function. The booking form provides details of the tour and times. The two tickets were used by participants as souvenirs of the day which included a lunch pack. These pieces of cutlery were found by a Parks Victoria ranger in a hollow log after the 2003 bushfires. It is possible these items were hidden for Chalet guests for picnics when they went out horseriding . Satchels such as these were commonly used by young boys to carry their lunch and school items between school and home. They were used commonly in the days when much of the requirements such as slates and paper were used as class sets. They proved to be serviceable and required only the most basic of maintenace as in stitching, to be kept in good order. It is fastened on the front with two metal buckles and has four adjustable leather back straps attached to the bag with metal studs. These are adjustable through holes in the leather straps. Likewise the front straps can be fastened in a number of different holes.
