You will see I have put the cart before the horse but the three children is here and makeing a terrible noise. Bella has got a house in Mullum Rd near the station we have been all this time getting her settled and we are all going to her Place Xmas day and to Tunstall Boxing Day as we do not feel up to having them all here this year. My son Eddy got married a fortnight ago but he lives in Ringwood. will be pleased to see you soon, loving Aunt and ?? -

Built in 1970 by Pat Burley, Iceland was a popular attraction, with bands as well as ice skating. It was sold in 1981, and subsequently was converted into various business units. 4 photos taken during the demolition if the old Ringwood Ice-skating Rink building, Iceland, 28 Maroondah Highway between New Street and the freeway. -

Flyer includes extract from "The Sun" 30/10/1924. "Ringwood has been created a Borough with capital value of £680,000. In 1908 there were 173 houses, 8 shops and 720 people. In 1918 the respective figures were 520, 45 and 2,080. For twelve months ended June, 1924, £51,000 worth of Home Sites were sold and £26,000 worth of new buildings were erected. Outward (train) passenger journeys have increased from 94,000 in 1919 to 182,000 in 1923. Train services have been almost doubled and time to Melbourne reduced from 60 to 37 minutes."Bi-fold double-sided land sale advertisement for Loma Loma Estate, Ringwood East, including area map, layout of the estate, and summary of local facilities and services.Subdivision includes Loma Street, Highton Street, Morinda Street, and Station Street (later Railway Avenue) Ringwood East. Colony of Victoria mining reports show any Ringwood mine references under Castlemaine District, St. Andrews Subdivision. Noteworthy for Ringwood: - Death of Pierce Boardman, mining manager at New Ringwood Mining Co., accidentally killed when he lost his footing and fell to a depth of 40 feet on 1st January 1879. - William White injured in truck accident at New Ringwood Antimony Tribute Company, 31st March 1882.Boxed collection of soft and hard bound reports including: 1. Quarterly Colony of Victoria reports of the Mining Surveyors & Registrars, Victoria, 1865-1881 - Summary of gold mining statistics for the quarter - Tables showing the yield of gold from certain parcels of quartz raised during the quarter in some of the deepest mines in Victoria with depth of the deepest shafts, levels, cross-cuts, etc. - Estimated yield of gold and quantity of gold exported during the quarter - Gold received and issued from the Royal Mint during the quarter - Summary of yield of gold from quartz, tailings, etc., crushed during the quarter - Summary of yield of gold from washdirt and cement washed and crushed during quarter - Number and distribution of miners on the goldfields of the colony. 2. 1879-82 Hard bound volume - Chief Inspector of Mines Reports to the Honorable Minister of Mines, Victoria. Booklet, Great Ryrie Primary School, Heathmont. Year 6 1998 Year Book
Great Ryrie Primary School is a result of the merger between Ringwood, Southwood and Heathmont Primary Schools. In April 1998 the school opened on a brand new site in Great Ryrie Street, Heathmont (source: Letter from the Principal, Brian Allen, 23rd March 1999). Blue spiral bound notebook with Year 6 student photos, and handwritten recollections/memories by individual students. Not a printed Yearbook - perhaps original draft material? The full book with the students' comments has been scanned as a pdf and is available at the RDHS Archives on request. -
