This is a dress for a young girl aged about twelve. It seems to date from the late 19th century and would have been worn at a wedding or a family celebration. This dress is a fine example of vintage clothing and is a valued display item.The dress is made of fine muslin. It has a round neck with lace edging, the gathered skirt has pin tucks with a spoke stitched wide hem. There is lace insertion at the waist and on each shoulder. On the three quarter sleeves there is lace edging at the cuffs. The bodice has machine made embroidery, spoke stitching and tucks. These cello strings belonged to Edith Jacobs (nee Larwill) who was prominent in music circles in Queensland before her marriage to Henry Jacobs, a Warrnanbool Estate Agent and Auctioneer during the 1940s and 50s. Edith Jacobs featured in many concerts and musical entertainments in Warrnambool during the middle years of the 20th century. Her son, Frank Jacobs was a prominent businessman in Warrnambool in the 70s, 80s and 90s and the wallet was either made by him or for him. These items are of some significance as they belonged to Edith Jacobs, a musician who was prominent in the Warrnambool musical scene in Warrnambool in the 1940s and 50s.This is a light brown leather wallet, hand made with two fringed areas, one on the top covering. This dressing gown was made from a patchwork quilt begun around the 1880s or 1890s by the daughters of William and Polly Hodgens, owners of the Adelphi Hotel near Montague Station, South Melbourne. The quilt became a communal project, added to over many years by the Hodgens children, relatives, friends and guests. This 1942-dated Map Case was still in use post-1982 when it was used by a member of the 5/6 Royal Victoria Regiment. This new Melbourne-based battalion was created on the 17 August 1982. Open-sided with a khaki canvas flap attached to a resin-impregnated board.. Hinged to the top edge is a celluloid cover. Four clips holds the cover (and any map) to the backing board. The flap is secured by a pair of Carr Australia press studs on the back. The underside of the flap has four loops for chinagraph pencils and a wider pocket and loop for a Protractor. Mrs Clare Roper wore this dress to a garden party at Buckingham Palace when she was invited there to represent the Lions Club.The Roper Family is one of the pioneering farming families of the Kiewa Valley. This cape may have belonged to RAN Telegraphist Norma Ashton Kilfoyle, however the date of her service is not consistent with the style of the article (which has buttons which suggest this cape was issued post 1952 during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II). The helmet was used by Sgt Cane A. E.Royal Australian Air Force Pith Helmet WW2.Khaki pith helmet with khaki puggaree which has 5 pleats. One the pugaree is an oblong colour patch blue white red colours. The Pith Helmet has a cloth khaki band around the brim and 4 ventilation holes on each side of the helmet. This helmet has chin straps that also have ear protection when done up.
