Book, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), "Electric Tramways of the State Electricity Commission of Victoria - By-Law No. 1 - August, 1965", Aug. 1965
1297 - Booklet with red heavy card cover and 24 pages inside and a four page supplement glued into rear cover giving details of the by-laws operating for the SEC tramways in Ballarat and Bendigo. Gives details of the definitions, fares and charges, sale of tickets, regulating number of passengers, stopping places, nuisances, smoking, dangerous goods, luggage and goods, general matters and fares broken into adult fares for each section and Children's fares and Pensioners' Concession fares for both Ballarat and Bendigo. Note - introduced decimal currency into the fares as well as pence. Document number on front cover "TYE 1-270". This by-law replaced or revoked all previous by-laws and amendments. Came in effect 1/10/1965 with a fare rise. Received Governor In Council approval on 24/8/1965. These fares have been amended in pencil for Ballarat. The amendment pasted into the rear of the booklet is dated 2nd August. 1966 and came into effect on 1/9/1966. 1297.1 - ditto, but actual used copy by D. J. Everett - see Reg. Item 2292 for details of SEC Ballarat Employee. On page one or title sheet, has an additional amendment pasted in - dated 14/1/1969 giving details of fare increases in Ballarat and Bendigo to come into effect 14/1/1969. Single sheet printed both side. See also Reg items 66 and 281 for this sheet of paper by itself. Item added 2/3/2003. 1297.2 - booklet as above for 1297, but without supplements - in as printed condition 8/1965. 1297.3 - as for 1297 with 1966 and two number 1969 supplements pasted into the book. One 1969 supplement at the front and additional at the rear. 1966 supplement pasted into the rear of the book. Has BTPS Catalogue Numbers 207, 208 and 209 written onto the front of the booklet. Four other copies - unnumbered held. Additional items added 10/7/2005. Additional copy of 1297.3 added 6/8/2016 from donation of T. Gives details with an index of the rules for General, accidents etc, tramway operations, motormen and conductors. Three index pages and 14 pages of rules 1 to 123. Title of book embossed in gold on cover with SEC logo. 1298.1 - ditto, used - was issued to Terry Dix No. 29. Added 16/10/04 - after being on display in cabinet in 39 since 1992. 1302.1 - A4 size, 88 page report on Melbourne's tram and bus system produced by 'Tram & Bus Strategic Review Committee' in May 1992. Report printed on white paper, with blue covers, stapled on sides. Report examines cross linking of trams routes and many other recommendations regarding services, union awards, ticketing, opportunities for expansion, reliability, revenue impacts, driver only trams, workplace reform, staffing, revenue protection and tourism opportunities. Note the report has been mis-bound with pages out of order eg 2, 1, 4, 3, 6, 5 etc. Gives a series of recommendations, few of which were implemented in reality. 1302.2 - A4 size - approx. 200 page document with blue covers - appendix to the above report. Ten issues of "Electric Traction" of the Australian Electric Traction Association. 1303.1 - Vol VI, No. 4, April 1951 - printed covers with four pages of duplicated notes - in poor condition, torn along centre and some edge damage. Page 3 includes notes on the Provincial systems about bogie cars going to Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. 1303.2 - Vol VI, No. 5, May 1951- printed covers with four pages of duplicated notes - in fair condition - covers have yellowed. 1303.3 - Vol VI, No. 6, June 1951 - as for 1303.2 - in good condition - some foxing on covers. 1303.4 - Vol VI, No. 7, July 1951 - as for 1303.2 - in good condition, though the insert pages have suffered some edge damage as slightly larger in size than the printed covers. 1303.5 - Vol VI, No. 8 - August 1951 - as for 1303.2 - in good condition - includes an article on page 3 about Ballarat news - including relaying of Sturt and Drummond Sts junction, service cuts, fare increase, No. 23, and extension of the depot to accommodate bogie cars. 1303.6 - Vol VI, No. 9 - September 1951 - 8 pages all printed - includes on page 3 - item re Ballarat No. 23 withdrawn for scrapping, and bogie cars at Geelong. In good condition. 1303.7 - Vol VI, No. 12 - December 1951 - 6 printed pages - includes items re bogie cars at Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. In good condition. 1303.8 - Vol VIII, No. 8 - August 1953 - 6 printed pages with green title details - has an item that Wal Jack was recently given a front page write up in the Courier. Shown as being printed by "Traction Press" of the same address as the publisher - Traction Publications. In good condition. 1303.9 - Vol VIII, No. 9 - September 1953 - 8 printed pages with black title details, page 3 has map of Sydney printed in red and page 6, Sydney rail system. Page 4 has item re the Geelong system and a forthcoming Transport Regulation Board inquiry. In good condition though has been folded in the middle. Printer as for 1303.8 1303.10 - Vol VIII No. 2 - February 1953 - 6 printed pages - includes Tramways of Collie WA, Sydney News, Melbourne cable car conversion dates, electric railway news and branch news and notes Basil Miller has been appointed as an Inspector in Bendigo. 1303.10 - added 28/3/2010 - sourced from donations to the Museum by R.
