The Thompson's Foundry Battery was re-erected in the Parkin's Reef Reserve after being used at Bola Creek near the NSW border. National Wool MuseumTextile - Three Bears Porridge Flaked Oatmeal Bag
These domestic kitchen bags were donated to the National Wool Museum by Lila Gore. Lila donated Children’s Clothing (RGE 8324) to the museum in 2022 and at her time of donating, inquired as to whether the museum would also be interested in these bags she had been collecting. Lila said there was no reason as to why she was saving the bags, other than she liked the art works and thought they were too good to end up in landfill. She had thought perhaps she would make something out of the bags, or perhaps give the bags to a friend to make something. When Lila was donating the Children’s Clothing to the museum, she thought that the National Wool Museum would be the perfect home for the bags. Domestic kitchen bags such as these date from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century. They were used at home, usually by women, containing household items which would not spoil, such as flour, sugar, animal feed, seeds, and other commodities. In modern times a trip to the supermarket is a daily chore, in the past however, these trips happened far less often, with big sacks such as these a large reason why. In the rural US and Canada, Feed sack dresses and Flour sack dresses, were an iconic part of rural life from the 1920s through the Great Depression, World War II, and post-World War II years. The Percy Uebergang family lived at Tooram Park, Allansford from 1912 until 1992. Percy and Myrtle Uebergang's children were twins, Ray and Joyce born in 1926 who lived at Tooram Park until their deaths, Ray in 1986 and Joyce in 1992. Neither Ray nor Joyce married and following the death of her brother Joyce set up the Ray and Joyce Uebergang Foundation which supports the local community. This advertising mobile is part of the collection of items given into the care of the Cheese World Museum. The van Nooten family purchased the neighbouring property Tooram from the Neale family. Honey bee printed on card and mounted in a blue painted metal holder. On the front the bee is striped black and orange with 2 large wings and 1 small wing in white with black line detail. On the back is advertising material for Barnes honey -text and a drawing of a bee with wings folded. The metal stand has a loop at either end. Clarke, were co-opted to organize social and sporting activities for the thousands of workers relocated to the remote work site.The Athletics Club was one of the first clubs to organise activities and Boxing and allied disciplines, weight-lifting, wrestling and gymnastics were very popular. This photograph is part of the Caulfield Historical Album 1972. This album was created in approximately 1972 as part of a project by the Caulfield Historical Society to assist in identifying buildings worthy of preservation. The album is related to a Survey the Caulfield Historical Society developed in collaboration with the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) and Caulfield City Council to identify historic buildings within the City of Caulfield that warranted the protection of a National Trust Classification. Principal photographer thought to be Trevor Hart, member of Caulfield Historical Society. Most photographs were taken between 1966-1972 with a small number of photographs being older and from unknown sources. All photographs are black and white except where stated, with 386 photographs over 198 pages. While the page heading says "architect: Walter Burley Griffin", in fact Edward F. Billson designed it.From the Victorian Heritage Register Database - Citation for 45 Balaclava Road https://vhd.heritagecouncil.vic.gov.au/places/35562 (as at 12/10/2020) The house at 45 Balaclava Road, Caulfield North has architectural importance as an early example of the work of Edward F. Billson, whose work demonstrated the influence of the internationally distinguished American architect Frank Lloyd Wright and his one time colleague, Walter Burley Griffin with whom Billson worked in partnership for a period.
