Spraying was carried out by the SECV in 1961 and 1963. It was the main school in Warrnambool, before the development of Primary schools at East and West Warrnambool. The Commonwealth plane in the charge of Lieut. Oakes landed in Mr McPhee's paddock at Newmerella. It left for Sale on the same day.The purpose of the plane's visit was to raise subscriptions towards the WW1 peace loan.
