Overnight on 19-20th August 2015, the Greensborough Football Club scoreboard building was set alight by vandals. The scoreboard, built in the 1950s needed to be demolished. Robin Boyd had the sound system put in by a friend who ran the iconic Thomas’ Music in the city of Melbourne. The Boyd family thinks that Robin designed the facade and logo for Thomas’ Music. This equipment was located in the outpatients department (Philip Block) until September 2021 when it was deemed obsolete by Infection Prevention. Hubert Ingham Clements (1886-1969) was an Australian engineer who established his own engineering business in NSW in 1908 manufacturing combustion engines. He became interested in anaesthesia equipment and from the 1920s Clements worked on improving ether apparatus and manufacturing portable suction machines for use in hospital operating theatres. The latter machines were to earn an unrivalled reputation for reliability; many remained in service over thirty years after their date of production. The business became H. I. Clements & Son when his son William joined the company. This veterinary equipment was found in an old walk-through dairy at Wombat Track. The instruments have been identified by Vet, Peter Honey,(9.1.2019) as instruments used to gain access to a teat cavity in a cow and to remove a blockage in the teat. They are possibly an improvised tool used c 1900-1950's.These items are representative of items used in Orbost on dairy farms in the first half of 20th century.A small set of instruments and container made of metal -possibly stainless steel. This cash register was made in 1903 at Dayton, Ohio (USA) by the National Cash Register (NCR) company, which still operates today manufacturing commercial equipment, including Automatic Teller Machines. Mr. Thomas Watson, the founder of International Business Machines (IBM), started as a traveling salesman for NCR.This register came from a shop owned by Mrs. Dulcie Anderson near the Star Hotel in Walhalla. This cash register consists a brass register that is now heavenly tarnished. The register has two mechanical displays on the back and fore on the front. This piece of equipment was used to predict the flight path of an aircraft in order for anti-aircraft artillery to fire accurately at an approaching enemy airborne target. A crew of six operated the machine with information ready to be relayed to a gun within 50 seconds. The predictor was manufactured at the Commonwealth Government Ordnance Factory, Maribyrnong.The item is made primarily from metal, is square shaped and bolted to a wooden base. Numerous hand operated wheel dials attached to gauges which input information related to wind speed, bearings and elevation are visible. Each of the four sides has a specific task with three sides being labelled - Elevation Unit, Wind Calculator, Bearing Unit. The item is housed in a glass and wood display case. Petrie Park Montmorency in the 1960s. The long drive can be seen with some children's play equipment. Today the park has a sports oval for cricket and football, a tennis court and lawn bowls as well as a children's playground. It is also the home of the Montmorency – Eltham RSL. The first steam train to Hurstbridge was probably this one which carried equipment for the construction of the rail line and railway station. The formal opening of the train extension from Eltham to Hurstbridge railway station took place on June 25, 1912. The area was known as Allwood and was offically proclaimed as Hurstbridge in 1924. This photo forms part of a collection of photographs gathered by the Shire of Eltham for their centenary project book, "Pioneers and Painters: 100 years of the Shire of Eltham" by Alan Marshall (1971). This instrument is a 'McKay Massey Harris Spanner P206'. These spanners were supplied with harvesters and other implements to be used by the farmer to maintain his equipment. Oil can which was standard equipment with the QF 25 PDR field gun. Also used with 2 PDR and 6 PDR field guns. This can held 1/2 pint of lubricating oil and has a thumb operated pressure pump incorporated in the design. The can is made of galvanised steel plate and is lead soldered.
